About DealcatcherFounded in a bedroom by Dan Baxter in July 1999, the site was started as a resource for his friends and family to save money online. With the help of programmer and long time friend Tim Patton they created a site that focused on the consumer. Ten years later DealCatcher receives over 6 million page views per month promoting over 500 merchants online deals. DealCatcher has been featured by the Wall Street Journal, CNN, ABC's The View, PC World, Yahoo Internet Life, MSN, and USA Today. Who’s behind Dealcatcher?Dan started DealCatcher in July 1999. He currently works as the site's web designer and chief slacker, he signs the checks, and also writes these profiles. Dan studied computer science at the University of Delaware and left his senior year to pursue his dreams of starting a dot com. In his spare time, which he seems to have a lot of, he enjoys photography and road biking. Kevin Kahn – Site Manager Kevin started working for DealCatcher in November 2000. His job of coupon monkey later took on the responsibility of affiliate manager and being Dan’s boss. Kevin studied computer science at the University of Delaware and graduated in the Spring of 2001. After a grueling day at the office Kevin enjoys running and spending time with his wife and daughter. Maribeth Baxter – Content Specialist Maribeth has been with DealCatcher since day one, supporting her husband Dan while he obsesses over everything. After three years of nursing school she decided to switch majors and complete a degree in Early Childhood Education. Maribeth is refusing to return from maternity leave until her office is no longer a gym. Elliot Seifert – Senior Web Developer Elliot was recruited in the summer of 2006 to help conquer the world. Armed with a Masters degree from the University of Delaware he uses his mad math skilz to save the world from various Internet memes. When he's not busy playing fantasy football or rocking out on a plastic guitar he writes Ruby on Rails code for our new Web 3.0 website. Kearstin August – Content Specialist Kearstin started working at Dealcatcher in the summer of 2006. When she is not adding deals she likes to play Guitar Hero, softball, and bowl. Her affinity for shoe shopping has earned her the title, The Queen of Shoes. Angel – Company Mascot Our seven pound Maltese dog spends more time in the office than Dan. She enjoys sleeping, barking and making Elliot uncomfortable. Dan and Andrea Baxter – Accounts Receivable Dan's mom was the first to tell him he would never make a penny from his little website. They are the original inspiration for Dealcatcher and made Dan everything he is today. They work for free and only requires that Dan send them on a cruise every few years. |
