500 mile update: Only issues I have had is the brakes needed adjustment, which I finally did. The back tire got a flat after I accidentally rode over a branch with throns on it. Changing the rear tube was a little tricky but I got it done! Other than that, the bike continues to power on.
Original review: I have ridden mountain bikes for 25 years on some challenging terrain in and around Colorado. Unlike most of these hardcore riders though, I choose affordable bikes, rather than flashy top of the line gear. Having grown up just above poverty, I was taught to be frugal. At 40, that mentality remains with me. Which is why I patiently waited for E-bikes to come down in price before buying this one. Moving on to the review, this is my first e-bike and I have to say, I was skeptical but after 200 miles in the saddle, I think this bike definitely delivers! I have pulled a trailer with this bike, done steep single track, ridden steep loose rocky terrain, ridden gravel, pavement, lots of hills... I live in Colorado so I have hundreds of trails outside my front door basically. The brakes and derailer definitely need adjustment, that is for sure... But everything else works fine and dandy. Just yesterday I did just around 40 miles.. tackled some steep hills.. mix of 80% paved, 20% dirt. I pedal assist, with probably more pedaling power than most people because I want to get a workout. I got back to the house with 2 bars or battery still available. It was an amazing ride! You can't tell me I have to spend $2k+ to have that experience. Just like a good musician could make just about any instruments sound good, a good rider could make just about any bike ride well. Hats off to the Miclon engineering team for figuring out how to make this bike affordable and still tough enough to go the distance and be dependable. You definitely put a smile on my face! Update at 400 miles: because I often ride this bike while pulling a 45 lbs bike trailer with my 30 lbs son in it up 15-20 degree hills, I definitely test the motor, and at max throttle the motor does start making a chirping sound. This sounds happens only momentarily, the bike still runs like a champ. Just finished a solo ride on some single track behind my house and bike rode great and championed up some switchbacks without problem. If the motor does go out over a year or two, it will probably be due to me overloading. I will worry about that when / if it happens.

We went for a nice short evening ride, about a half-hour or so. These were our first Ebikes, and we had no idea what to expect, how they would perform, or even how you are supposed to handle them. We just rode around like they were motorbikes using the throttle and had fun for quite a while till we realized this tended to heat up the motor and batteries a bunch and the system started regulating us, I then tried the assisted peddle mode and it clicked. Throttle is for taking off out of a dead stop or for short periods to rest, and the real point of this thing was assisted peddling.
Holy smoke was this the best part. It seemed as if the motor doesn't engage immediately when you use peddle mode, instead, it only kicks in once you get up to a reasonable speed, then it kicks in to help you speed up more or maintain speed with less effort. This is pretty ideal, to be honest, and feels great.
I'm not a small guy, 6'1" 240lbs, stocky and strong, so I probably could have gotten a larger frame to have better ergonomics, but it felt fine to me especially since I'm not using it for mountain biking, but instead mainly using it for suburban/urban adventures and local commutes in this wonderful Biden Economy (that was sarcasm). In terms of pickup and speed, my wife, being in even better shape than me, was able to out-accelerate me, but both bikes reached about 18MPH easily with just the throttle on level ground. I felt no sense as if the bike was struggling to propel me, and I believe it's rated up to 300-350 lbs as far as what it can carry total? Double-check the details, but it certainly feels accurate. Everything on this bike feels built strong and the motor and battery seem more than capable of making someone about my size go just fine.
Overal, this has been a good if not great experience. Just keep in mind, this is our first e-bike, and I've had it less than 24 hours and rode it for less than an hour (tomorrow will be a bigger day, I plan on taking a ride around town and grabbing lunch with my wife), but if the first half-hour or so is any indication, this is going to be well worth the investment and will be our spring-fall leisure and local work commute vehicle any day it isn't raining. We're lucky we live only 2 miles from our jobs, but even if we lived 5-10 this would be a viable way to make the trip every day and save on gas and have some fun getting some exercise.
Final word - Anyone looking for an affordable first entry into Ebiking and has similar needs as mine, will probably benefit from investing in this bike. I can't compare it to others, maybe some are better, but this was what I could afford, and it seems very promising.
I will update if any problems arise.
Now the downside so far: I don’t know if I got a bad bike or if it’ll just fix itself over time but the tires I got deflate very quickly and had to be pumped up after each of the 3 long rides I’ve gone on so far. The seat is a little loose no matter how tight I get it which makes it a little uncomfortable for extended periods of time. I also wish it came with a headlight and taillight like most e-bikes already have, so you’ll have to buy your own light combo if you ride in the evening or night. It also comes with just a speedometer but not a odometer to track your miles like to make sure you aren’t going further than 37mi, the advertised battery limit.
Overall it’s a nice beginner e-bike with minimal tech on it but plenty of get-up-and-go and a good battery life.
