How to seasoning a new carbon steel wok?

  • Wash the wok with hot water to remove factory oil.
  • Preheat the wok over high heat, tilt and flip your wok to heat the front, back and sides. When the whole wok heats up and turns blue, it indicates successful heating.
  • Use a paper towel to coat your wok in a high smoke point oil, medium-high heat roasting wok pan, proceed to flip and tilt the wok to season each section.
  • Clean the wok with water and turn on burner to low heat to heat it, and rub a piece of fatty pork for one minute to coat its surface with lard, which can also remove impurities in the wok.
  • Finally, coat the reverse side of the wok with lard or vegetable oil as well and let it stand for 12 hours.

A wok that works and great for the price
After purchasing this wok I found myself using my pan less and less because this wok, when seasoned and used correctly, can cook fried eggs to pancakes. It does take some practice to warm up the wok to the right temperature before pouring the oil and cooking food until it’s non stick. Once you get a hang of it - it’s off you go!

Very sturdy carbon steel wok with excellent tools included. I chose to season the wok according to the easy to follow oven instructions. There are many videos on YouTube to show you how to complete this process as well. I am very happy with this Wok and feel that the tools were very useful. This is great if you have a wok burner, use a conversion kit or simply use another trick to get your stove running like a wok flame. Retains heat very well and works perfectly for my application. Never overload your wok!

Now it becomes a nonstick steel wok that will last forever if we take care of it properly. The most important thing to remember is that this is solid steel , no nonstick coating on it. So remember don’t use detergent to wash it after use, dry it immediately after wash, and put some oil for first few times.
After use it for a few days, it does great work all the time, nonstick at all including fried eggs. It is sick but not too heavy, I can hold it with one hand(after having two children, my arms are stronger now). I love cook meat and vegetables with the wok, because the dishes are tasted way more delicious! Accessories are quite useful. Overall I am happy to buy this cost effective wok.

I own 7 woks. Carbon steel is the only way to go for pro cooking period. I use an 11 inch Caphalon Anodized for leftovers reheating. Stainless steel looks great but doesn't cut it. This wok is almost as good as craft woks brand both are 15 Guage steel but this wok you have to scree on the handle and it will wobble a bit and the handle is thick and I have big hands. 14 inch woks are the way to go. Keep in mind Asian chef's who are making volume dishes use 1.2 lighter thinner carbon steel not 1.6 or 1.8 thick like this and craft wok. So if you want to flip food go with a Japanese or Chinese brand that's 1.2 thick and go with a 14 or 16 inch 36 or 39 cm. This wok in 14 inch diameter is for stationary cooking flipping food with a metal spoon or wood spatula. It's very stout and well made with no chemical coating. They also give you metal spoons. They say the screws are tapped screws but to do it right you need to drill holes. I would go with Craft wok instead. If you don't have natural gas go with flat bottom wok. This wok is round bottom. I prefer round bottom woks. This is well made just didn't like how the handle wasn't on from factory. Materials are all very good.

This is my first carbon steel wok and the seasoning process was straightforward with the video instruction and it's seasoned well to a non-stick surface. It's a little heavy but mostly that's good because it stays evenly hot and stable on the supplied burner ring base. I use mostly the supplied spatula for turning the fried rice I'm making right now. I've had nothing stick to it and the cleanup is easy, you have to put hot water in it and use the supplied brush to clean off any old oil and then just dry it with paper towels. I then heated up again and do a little bit of seasoning with new oil before putting it away. One thing that is necessary is to affix the supplied wok ring to the stove somehow... I figured this out by making two little small holes on the stove top which is an older stove but with good gas burners and used a little bit of thin wire to fasten it to the top. For all you're getting here can't really beat the value especially because it is a well made traditional wok with all the accessories included.

This is my first carbon steel wok and the seasoning process was straightforward with the video instruction and it's seasoned well to a non-stick surface. It's a little heavy but mostly that's good because it stays evenly hot and stable on the supplied burner ring base. I use mostly the supplied spatula for turning the fried rice I'm making right now. We did what the instructions said we seasoned it 3 times it would never take and when you wash it it turns rusty what a waste of money notice the pits and scratches on the metal.
UPDATE: Email from seller: Thank you for your support, sorry for the inconvenience, we will help you solve the problem. Because the wok is made of iron, it is easy to rust when the surface of the wok is not kept dry for a long time. We recommend that you soak in warm water, then clean the rusty area with a brush, and reflavor it for normal use. Tips to prevent iron pot from rusting:

1. Clean and keep dry in time.

2. After each cooking, please coat the surface of the wok with a layer of cooking oil, so that the wok forms a layer of natural oil film, which can not only prevent rust, but also achieve non-stick effect.

I bought this as a gift for my hubby that was using a cheap flat bottom one that was just old and stripped and just crap. I searched for the perfect wok and this is what I found. Super easy instructions to season it and it's beyond my expectations. Hubby uses this wok daily and says this is his favorite kitchen item. It's just amazing. Love the fire ring stand and love all the awesome utensils it comes with. I give this a 100/10 bc it's the best. So if you're looking for a wok , then look no further and just buy this one. You won't regret it.

This is a very good quality wok.
Make sure you season it before using it.

I used canola oil and and electric burner stove. They give you instructions.
