Using in place of butter:
1/2 cup butter powder plus 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of water is equivalent to 1/2 cup (1 stick) store-bought butter (http://www.augasonfarms.com/image/pdf/90363_Butter%20Powder_NUT.pdf)

36oz (size of butter powder container) = 4.5 cups

1 stick of butter = .5 cups
.5 cups / 4.5 cups = 9 sticks of butter

1 T equal 1T of butter. I est. it is equal to 4 pounds of butter but you will use a lot less of it (which I think is good).

I used about 1/2 cup of powder mixed with canola oil to produce about 8 ounces of spread to be refrigerated. So to make 1 lb of butter, 1 cup of powder blended (manually) into about 1 cup, maybe a little less, of oil.

This is a 2lb 4oz can. I have no Idea how much actual butter was required to make this. It claims to have 204 servings at 1 Tbsp per serving. I hope that was helpful.

I hope the math in that 9 sticks of butter answer is inaccurate. The label says 204 servings. Each serving should be equal to 1 tablespoon. 204 tablespoons of butter is 25.5 sticks of butter. There are 8 tablespoons in each stick... (204/8=25.5). Don't forget that each serving has to be mixed with liquid to yield each specific amount.

Just calculating from the info on back of the can: entire can should replace 12 and 3/4 pounds of butter.

Calorie-wise, this can is equivalent to about 2lbs fresh butter. Everyone who answered before made the assumption that a serving size was 1 tablespoon, but 1 tablespoon of fresh butter is about 100 calories, and the serving size on the can is listed as having 35 calories, which is the same as a teaspoon of fresh butter. One stick of butter=8tbsp=24tsp; 204&divide;24=8.5 sticks or 2lbs +2oz butter. The whole can is 2lb 4oz, but has powdered milk added, which may account for the weight difference. Once reconstituted, this butter may have a different volume than fresh, or you may be able to stretch it by adding other ingredients, but per calorie this is at least twice the cost of fresh butter. Which may well be worth it in food storage plans but not necessarily for saving money in your regular grocery budget!

I went to the company&#39;s online site (augasonfarms.com). One serving equals 1 Tablespoon (5 g) dry. There are 204 Tablespoon servings per can. 1/2 cup butter powder plus 1-1/2 teaspoons water equals 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter.

Straight forward questions deserve straightforward answers.  According to the info on the can label, and a little calculation, one can is the equivalent of 6.375 lbs. of fresh butter.

I don't find it to be any saltier than regular salted butter or butter/olive oil spreads.

Real butter. It's nothing like the butter powders seen in the grocery stores, this is REAL defatted butter.

I got tired of paying $4 a pound for butter to cook with, so decided to give this a try. It comes in an aluminum can with a reusable plastic lid which I store in the fridge. It is real cream butter powder you mix with an equal part of boiling water to make a butter paste to spread on toast, etc., and keep handy in a jar in the fridge. I find no problem with this product. If you have ever bought Butter Buds with all it's additives, well this is far superior. It is cheaper to purchase through Walmart than to buy direct from Augasonfarms. I would also like to try the strawberries and mixed bell peppers. I hope Walmart will supply them.

This works!

I bought this to use in soups and gravies instead of regular butter. I have found it useful for many recipes including oats and cream of wheat. We even mixed it to make butter one night when we were out and it worked great! I highly recommend this product as well as any other Augason farms products. So glad I found this brand and Wal Mart makes it very affordable.

Great substitute

Just got my Augason Farms Powdered Butter today. I wanted to make that butter I keep reading about here. The directions say one half cup butter and one and a half teaspoons water, I don't know about you guys, but it wasn't enough. I put in five teaspoons of water, kept stirring and it started to look like butter! Put it in the fridge for an hour or so, it firmed up, put it on my home-made bread....and it was delish!

Powdered butter? Oh yeah!

for those of us who survived the days just past the great depression, we know one is coming again. I am stocking up now and canning. I used this product in my green beans, apricots, peaches, nectarines, and more. Let them rest a week, then tried them to find out how well it worked. What a delish dish I had made ... this product is well worth the effort and I am looking forward to more receipes I can use it with.
