There were two things wrong with this order when we received it. The memory foam pad is barely two inches thick, which when added to the gel foam section we received (as it arrived), the entire thickness would have 2 1/2" thick at the best (not the advertised 4"). The BIG problem is that the gel foam came completely flattened (1/4" thick) and malformed. It had what looked to be a spine down the back of it and the size was not anywhere near the size of the memory foam. There were no directions, thank you's or anything. Amazon is sending a replacement, so I will write another review. But very disappointed in the overall quality and apparent misleading statements in this product's discussion of its attributes.
2nd Review: I updated this to 5 stars because Amazon sent me a replacement box and allowed me to keep the one I had already, until I decided what parts worked best from each box. Frustrated, I decided to pull the spine out and see what happened. I stretched the gel foam out to the same size as the memory foam and then my wife and I stretched it out again. The spine disappeared. Not sure if this is what made it work, but in just a few minutes it was a full 2 inches thick (see photos). I stacked it on top of the memory foam and the total height was 4 1/2", a full 1/2" thicker than it says. I do not know how long it will hold up with an 85 pound dog, but I set the bed beside his current bed and within 15 minutes he would not get off the new bed! We bought the XL size and it is ample for him. So 5 stars. Thank you Amazon for giving me the chance to work this out.

After reading a ton of reviews and articles for different types of beds for aging dogs, I took a chance and bought this for our older golden. We wanted something that had support/ thickness so our older golden wouldn't sink to the floor ( he's 105lbs). He's starting to limp/ have a lot of stiffness after laying on the floor so we also wanted something cushiony. We needed something that could be cleaned easily ( our goldens never met a puddle of water/mud they didn't like). This one has been perfect for our needs!
It's long enough for our older golden to lay on his side, has a water proof inner cover, soft outer cover, and expanded perfectly with no off gassing smells. It takes up a lot of floor room but less than the bean bag style of bed. It's been easy to surface clean by light vacuuming, doesn't show stains easily, is soft, cushiony, supportive and has held up to both of them on it at the same time. In 2 of the pictures there's 195lbs worth of golden retrievers sharing it with very little compression from their weight and it bounced right back after they (eventually) got up.
Our older golden is alone in 2 of the pictures, you can see there is a slight sinking from his weight (105lbs) when he's on his stomach but it's minimal with plenty of cushion and support under him and it's become his go to choice of beds. Our younger golden also loves this bed and we had to come back and buy a 2nd one so they could each have one!

I read a lot of reviews before settling on this bed for our elderly pet. It’s a great, thick piece of memory foam that she liked until she decided our bed was more comfortable. The cover zips on and off for ease of cleaning.
The only criticism I have is that the color description seems incorrect. I purchased beige hoping that it would be pretty neutral and not stand out in a room, but the beige pulls significantly pink in person. A more accurate color name would be Pink Clay. It is difficult to photograph the color accurately to show the difference as it does look somewhat beige in photos, but it’s definitely pink in reality.
Other than that, the quality is great so far. Impressed with the product.
