Does the 40lb vest come with the weights in it or do you have to buy them seperate

The Fuel Pureformance Adjustable Weighted Vest shoulder straps are approx 3.5" wide and materials it is constructed with does offer some cushion, but do not have notable padding.

Yes.  This applies to the 50 lb vest.  It&#39;s padding is similar to a good backpack strap.

The weights for the Fuel Pureformance Vest are filled with a sand and steel mix. As long as the weight sack does not get punctured or damaged, it's weight should hold.

Simple review;  Great vest and will be worth your money if you use it.  A more detailed review; I use it for pull ups, Australian pull ups, push ups, dips, chin ups and sometimes dumbbell farmer's walk.  1) I haven't tried to but probably wouldn't use for running.  Maybe light jogging but not running or any jumping like burpees or box jumps.  I'm saying this without trying it but just an observation.  2) Straps seem strong and secure.  I put it on for certain exercises and keep it on until I'm done so it's not coming on and off frequently.  It's put on, I exercise for 30-35 minutes and then remove it for the remainder of my exercise.  3) Had it for a few weeks and used it 10-12 times so durability is to be determined.  4) Weights are a challenge to put in when you're using every slot but I bought the 80lb vest and only use 6 total weights for a vest that weighs 30.8lbs.  I try to increase by one sandbag weight each week.  I have not weighed the sand bags but would guess they are 4.75lbs each and the vest itself is approximately 2.3lbs.  5) Fit and length seems fine for me.  I'm a 5'8" male at 165lbs on a good day.  My waist size is 32-33 and my chest is 43-44.  I would guess if you have a smaller waist, you'll feel some movement.  If you have a waist over 40 inches, you may need to review someone else.  It may fit too tight at that waist size.  Also, if you have a larger size chest, I would try it  on at the store.  A larger chest and possibly stronger guy probably would use all the front slots for the sandbag weights and that may be too tight in the chest.  Misc. stuff: some sandbag weights are stiff from moisture.  This makes it hard to put into the vest slots.  Punch, karate chop or rough them up a little and they will slide in.  The shoulder straps fit well and don't bother me.  The middle edge right above the "Fuel" logo pokes right into my chest or throat and bothers me.  Because of different body types, this may not be an issue.  Leave it out and air dry after you exercise or it will start to smell.

The good, the bad and the ugly...

The FedEx driver who delivered it must be Heracles because he carried it on one shoulder like nothing. it was definitely as advertised. Heavy, sturdy, and great. slips on easy and you can tell the difference. Great for the price.

I bought it to train for annual pack test in the spring for our volunteer fire department. In the past I trained with a hiking backpack loaded with dumbbell weights. This works so much better because the weight is balanced front-to-back.
The sandbags take a few minutes and some creativity to load into the pack. I suspect it would take a bit longer to remove them. If you need a pack where you can add and remove weight often, you'd be better off with one that uses metal weights, but those cost a lot more.
The farthest I've walked with this is three miles on a rough dirt road. I definitely felt it on my shoulders but it wasn't painful. My cotton tee shirt was pretty wet when I removed the pack, as expected. It took a few tries with my wife's help to figure out the Velcro straps.
I weighed one of the sandbags on a digital kitchen scale and it was 2 lb-8 oz, so 16 should weigh 40 lb. The pack itself weighs 2 lb. The loaded pack weighs 42 lb on our bathroom scale.
I recommend it if this is what you need.

It's OK for an economy vest

Serves it purpose. It's a bit of a workout getting the weights in the vest, but probably to prevent them from moving during use. It is entirely too long and there is no way to adjust it. Too much strap and it sags, creating bruises on upper thighs. If the length was shorter or if they offered different sizes, this best would have gotten 5 stars. **I am 5'2" **

Too long

I bought a weighted vest on my doctor's recommendation, having lost over 50 lbs my walks are not getting the results they used to.

It comes with no instructions whatsoever, so I had to figure out how to put it on and I doubt I'm doing it the way it was intended.  The fit is pretty small.  I wear a men's XL shirt and the velcro barely reaches - one side is very short, the other quite long.

The weights are extremely difficult to get into the slots - it's a job for three hands.  Also, if you load the top slots, you can't really load the bottom ones, so start  from the bottom!

Because of the weights being tight, there is no movement, so it's comfortable to wear, no shifting or rubbing. 

The vest is 2 lbs, apparently, and it comes with twelve 4 lb weights.  Three stars due to difficult getting it together.  Otherwise, performs well.

50 lb adjustable weight vest

Pros: affordable, comfortable padding
Cons: doesn't tighten enough on thin torsos, a bit long even on me at 6'5", straps don't align with front velcro

Not my preferred vest design, but works okay for pushups and pullups.  Avoid wearing over tank top, like I did.

40 lb version

Weight vest description didn't mention that there's no way to adjust the height of the vest. The vest clearly is designed for people over 6 feet, as the weights reached my thighs, making walking normally impossible. As I bought the vest to train for everything from firefighting to fitness tests, I need to be able to move normally while wearing the vest. With this vest, that simply wasn't possible, so I had to return it.

The quality of the material was good. The ability to adjust the chest size of the vest was okay-ish. If you have a small frame, you'll have a lot of extra velcro strap poking off to your left side, that you can't do anything with. I tried tucking it back through itself so it'd be on the inside of the pack, but then it was pressing against skin, creating an uneven lump that after time of working out, could be very irritating if not painful.

Not as adjustable as it claims

Vest and weight bags arrived in slightly damaged box. Edging on left shoulder of vest was not sewn together. Padding and threads exposed and chalk sew line visibly exposed and obviously missed. 
With such an obvious defect, I can only assume there is no quality assurance at all with this company. Please see attached pictures of product received.

If you are finicky about the overall appearance of the vest, the sloppy sewing may irritate you, but it doesn't affect performance of the product in any way. The Fuel logo patch is sewn on crooked. Reflective strip on back was not cut straight, and sew lines are also crooked.  Pungent smell on the vest dissipated in one day.  

The good (and thus the 2 star): 
If you take your chances and receive a working vest, given the low price, it is a good value.
The 16 cylindrical weighted sand bags are exactly 2 lb 8oz each, totaling 40 lbs exactly. They are bit tough to get into the vest, but once in, they fit very snuggly. 
I will reach out to the manufacture to see if they can send me a replacement vest. Will provide an update on this review when I hear back.

Poor Quality:Manufacturing defects, nonexistent QA

I'm missing straps as I see no way to connect the two vest pieces together unless I received either two front or back pieces, also box was pretty much destroyed upon arrival
