I selected the Athletic Works 9 ft. Weighted Jump Rope with Adjustable Length mostly because I love the Athletic brand. I have purchased several Athletic brand products and have never been disappointed. From my experience, Athletic brand products are dependable, long-lasting, and economical. Through my examination and practice, this weighted jump rope falls well in line with what I expect from Athletic brand products.

It has been a while since I jumped rope. However, I selected it because I knew this could add a fun challenge to my exercise routine. This is my first “weighted” jump rope. So, I had to conduct a little research about weighted jump ropes. I discovered that there are two kinds of “weighted” jump ropes: one has the extra weight within the rope and the other has the extra weight within the handles. This Athletic brand Weighted Jump Rope has the extra weight within the handles. This means the rope is not only adjustable in length, it is adjustable in heaviness. The handle easily opens so that the weight element can be removed, added, or changed. I tried both with and without the extra weight and, for this beginner, I decided on the removal of the extra weight. It is indeed a fun challenge and will be more challenging when I add the weight to advance my routines.

NICE ADJUSTABLE QUALITIES

I love this weighted jump rope. Was outback today with my dog and grandson exercising. I pulled out this jump rope and started jumping with it. It is great. The length, the weight, the handles is perfect. My grandson ask can he jump in with me and we both were jumping rope lol.

The jump rope handles are easy to grip and hold on to, and are very soft. The handles are not going to slip or fly out of your hands while you jump and exercise. They have a comfortable weight to them and do not feel flimsy at all. It is a sturdy rope, way better than those we had in PE class. The handles can be spun to adjust how much rope is dispensed, so the rope can be the right length for everyone. The rope itself is more like a thick wire than actual rope. It might hurt more if it hits you. Suppose that will also add to its longevity. It came wrapped up, which is how it is going to be stored for more people, likely. I personally just hold it under my foot and stretch it for a bit, in order to “get the wrinkles out”. Also while actually using the rope, the “wrinkles'' will not effect performance. All and all, it is a step up from a basic jump rope and an inexpensive addition to your home gym and exercise routine. Glad to have it.

Great Way to Get Exercise without Taking Space

This jump rope has a good weight and is great for exercising. I use it a few times a week and it's a good quality and has held up well. I use it in my exercise routine for cardio. It is a good size for adults even though I'm on the shorter side it works for me. It also works for my husband who is average height. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a different cardio tool.

Great for exercising!

The weighted jump rope is great for your arms. You can definitely feel after a few minutes. Easy to use and adjust. It's simple but very effective. Kinda like going back to basics really. Great for those squat days. Easy to store because it doesn't take up much room and its easy to clean. Would recommend as a back up or an addition to your routine.

Great Addition to Your Workout

In case you don't recognize me, I was almost THE Jump Rope Champ in fifth grade; so I know a thing or two about jump ropes. *wink*

This definitely is NOT the jump rope we had back then … this is amazing! Much better quality: soft foam-rubber handle grips, an adjustable-length 9' matte black ‘rubber' rope, optional .25lb weights inside each handle, and la piece de resistance … ball bearings in the handles which allow the rope to swing in continuous fluid motion. 

FUN to use, easier to use, and it looks cool too. I love being able to shorten the rope (at 5'4”) and love being able to add weights to increase intensity. If I had this Athletic Works 9' Weighted Adjustable Length Jump Rope back in fifth grade, I most certainly would have won the Championship. 

NOTE: In order to adjust rope length and/or handle weights you need to use the enclosed Tool which is glued to the inside of the box; but you would not know this until AFTER reading the instructions, at which point you may have already tossed the box (like me). Fortunately, I was told a 1/8 6-sided hex drill bit works just as well.
Suggestion To Mfg: Note tool location on outside of box by a giant yellow arrow so we know it's in there.

WAAAY BETTER THAN THE ONES WE USED IN SCHOOL

I love this Jump rope because not only is it weighted, but it is very simple to remove the weights and to have a non weighted jump rope in seconds for the easy days. The quality of the rope is great and does not tangle easily. It did take a few days to get the kinks out from being in the box, however, since then I have not had any issues. The handles easily screw on and off making it very easy to get the weights out if needed. The Rope also came with a box that recommended the app 'muuv' which provides great direction and motivation to get in your daily workout. Its very easy to use and straight forward with interval training. Just make sure you are using the correct shoes as the rope can sting a little if hit by the rope at the speeds it is moving.

Perfect Exercise tool for everyday use

I love this weighted Jump rope; it allows for a full body workout, aerobic and strength training without extra equipment! The weighted handles are quality made with a great cushioned grip. The rope portion too is great quality weight that provides great turn without the tripping of lesser quality ropes. It can be used with or without the weights in the handles; and the length is easily shortened by using the included thumb wrench (the wrench is attached to the lid of the box, so don't throw away box; see pic).
What I like best about this Jump Rope is that it provides me with a no fuss workout when I travel; no having to worry about finding a gym or exposing myself unnecessarily to illness. It's an effective and not to mention fun, workout!
