Look no further, fast and efficient
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only reason why I'm giving it a 4-star and not 5-star is because of the heat it produces during use. Which doesn't bother me, but I know it will affect the performance of my laptop later on. I bought a cooling mat to resolve this problem, it works. However, I very much enjoy using it most times without the cooling mat. It is much easier. Other than that here are the up side of getting this laptop. - fast because both the storage and booting is under SSD. - size is perfect can fit most bags and can be carried anywhere. - it has good weight to it that speaks quality, and slim style that makes it a perfect on-the-go laptop. - fast performance, response time for the touchscreen is superb. - switching desktop to tablet mode (vice versa) is very convenient and easy... ( I normal switch to tablet mode when I want to lay flat on my back and continue my work.) - keyboard backlight is helpful and is bright enough for you to see the keys easily. - it has a privacy cover for the webcam (love it), no need to buy it separately. I don't use webcam a lot so I cant talk about its quality, it is just a plus for me to have and there to use whenever I need it

Noteworthy Performer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 2020 Dell Inspiron 7000 2in1 with the 8 core AMD Ryzen 7 4700U is startling powerful. I don’t know that you’ll find more CPU power for the price. The build is approaching premium, the port selection is acceptable for the size, the screen is bright enough and has a quality you can appreciate. The average consumer may still be under the impression that Intel is king. Don't believe purely in marketing power. The 3rd gen Ryzen platform spanks the competition in bang for the buck. Let’s talk about what this unit does have – cutting edge WIFI 6, a USB Type-c port (supports PD), 0% - 80% charge in 1 hour, a lightning fast finger print scanner for Windows Hello, 2 USB A GEN 3.2 ports, a full sized HDMI out, SD Card reader, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVME SSD, FHD touch screen and 8 cores of AMD CPU magic. All of this at only about 3.39Lbs. This really is top of the line for your average user. The keyboard is nice to type on with decent travel. The keyboard layout is fine considering the 14” form factor. However, the page up/page down placement is a little strange. Coming from 13” laptops, I guess it’s nice that those buttons are even included. I’ve become accustomed to just using FN+up/down but you may not find yourself in the same boat. Note that the Best Buy description states “RGB backlit keyboard” – this is not accurate. It's an LED backlit keyboard. No fancy backlights here. I have one complaint and I don’t know that it’s too big a deal for your average user. It should be noted that the keyboard and underside can become very hot. Like, absurdly hot. I don’t think this is outside the scope of expected operating parameters, but I did find it unpleasant on the rare occasion. I noticed it after the initially after setting the notebook up for the first time and running Windows/driver updates. Through the course of regular use, I never really noticed it. Even when using it to edit/export RAW images from a DSLR, it never really got that hot again. As a suggestion, and it’s normal to see in your run of the mill OEM consumer notebooks, but the AMD platform really would benefit from having 2 sticks of RAM in order to leverage dual channel memory. With a single 16GB stick already installed, most won’t feel the need for more. However, if you do find the need to add another 16GB stick, you’ll also get the added benefit of going from single channel to dual channel memory.

Happy customer
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I procrastinated for a long time in buying a laptop. My husband and I did a lot of research on which was the best. Please go to the store and actually look at the laptops. This is the one I chose with the help of the knowledgeable salesman. Some keyboard letters in silver on silver were difficult to read. Battery life was the best on this laptop. It was on sale. No pressure from the salesman. I actually came home did some more research and ordered on line and had it in 2 days! You will not regret purchasing this Dell laptop. I am extremely happy with my purchase and the help of the salesman. He knew his laptops and answered all my questions.

Good Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good laptop for music management, browsing the internet and streaming. I love the the sleek look, the bronze finish, the integrated web camera cover and the backlit keyboard. It’s pretty fast and plan to upgrade to 32GB Ram, max it out. There are two things I absolutely hate about it but can live with it using some simple solutions or dealing with it when it happens. That is that the fingerprint recognition sucks. Really great when it works but there are times where I have to try several times and then have to enter my pin. My MacBook Pro 16” is great with fingerprint recognition, I got used to it and figured this laptop would be great to have, alas it is a horrible disappointment. The other issue is the heat, there is no way for this laptop to release all that hot air without you elevating the laptop to let the air circulate properly. The laptop heats up fast if used just as it came straight out of the box. I solved that issue with purchasing $4 laptop folding risers that stick your laptop and are not bothersome at all (pictured). Those are the only two issues and I can live with it. The fingerprint portion is a disappointment but entering a PIN is easy enough as well.

Scores Above It's Weight Class
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for my Full Review of this product you can find it on YouTube here: (https://youtu.be/K5XBPOINlSw) BUILD QUALITY/AESTHETICS: The overall finish for this laptop is premium and it looks professional. The chassis is complete metal with an attractive dark color that they report is sandstorm. I’m a male which means I’m challenged color wise and can usually only stick to colors of the rainbow. So, reading the color sandstorm made me expect more of a tan color, but instead it comes across as more of a dark grey. It also has very attractive sharp edges that are rounded but still come across as sharp to the touch. Which makes it very manly for you manly men out there. Chest bump, bro fist, manly headbutt. No matter where I pick it up from it doesn’t flex unlike my biceps as with it being fully constructed out of metal it comes in at about 3.5 lbs. and for my Sponge Bob arms I almost buckle under it. There are little bits of rubber spread out across the edges of the device and on the hinge to help prevent metal on metal action. The build quality is excellent, to the point you could probably defend yourself by hitting your attacker in the head and then get back to watching Anime as if nothing happened. KEYBOARD: This keyboard feels excellent. There is a small amount of travel, with a crisp bump at the end, and what I would consider heavy actuation. As I am used to about 45 – 50 grams of actuation and this feel like 60. But that is purely guess work. I scored 113 WPM on a typing test which is average for me. Which means you can blaze on this guy. It has white backlighting which you can adjust to either be 100%, 50%, or 0%. It shows both primary and secondary characters and the light is equal throughout with attractive easy to read font. No complaints whatsoever here. TOUCHPAD: The touchpad overall is great. It comes in at about 4.5 inches in width and almost 3 inches in height so it’s quite large. Unlike my… pinky finger guys, come on. There is no button to disable it. It is quite easy to slide your finger across the pad and be highly accurate with it. Gestures and scrolling are responsive. However, my biggest complaint is that it does not have equal pressure throughout for the clicks. Starting with the bottom left and right it requires mild/moderate pressure with it being more on the moderate side. On the bottom middle it requires moderate pressure. On the middle, left and right, it requires moderate/severe pressure. The top middle, left and right are impossible to click. Which is what takes this touchpad going from excellent to just great. SCREEN: I find the screen on this guy to be a conundrum. It comes with a 1920x1080p screen. I had the zoom set to 125% as 150% (recommended) was too much and 100% made me lean in a bit too close with poor posture while using. It is a 6-bit panel. In comparison to 8-bit with/without dithering or even a 10-bit panel for 4k. Which means that you do not get the best contrast (I think it was about 600 in comparison to around 1000) and the sRGB coverage was 52%, Adobe RGB 44%, DCI-P3 41%, and BT.2100 30% with a max brightness of 250 lumens. Gamma was 1.4 instead of 2.2. Which honestly is terrible in comparison to today’s standards spec wise. However, that does not translate at all to what you are seeing. As it looks great. Blacks are black, greys are grey, and colors are accurate (despite lacking depth). To the point where most users will not even notice it is a low bit panel. Viewing angles were good and text was almost always crisp and clear. When I went through my usual testing for contrast, I was able to see all boxes for black easily (which rarely happens especially for laptop screens). For whites I was able to see everything except the last line (where I can usually see 2 out of 4 boxes). There was no banding and color grades were accurate (but once again lacked full color depth due to being 6-bit). Which means it performed excellently. As most laptops displays have poor viewing angles, terrible color accuracy, terrible contrast, and terrible banding. So, with it being a 6-bit panel I would give it a 10/10. When competing against other 8-bit panels I would give it an 8/10 with the only thing removing 2 points would be lacking contrast (would need to be closer to 1000) and color depth being poor (need sRGB to be 100%). This is a very long paragraph to just say the screen is excellent and a major player on why you aren’t paying >$1200 for this laptop. I wanted to spend a lot of time on this though because to me the screen is almost the most important part of a computer. Because if it sucks you won’t want to use it. Like my previous laptop that I owned for 8 years before getting this. BATTERY LIFE: This PC comes with 250 nits of maximum brightness, with a middle of the road processor (4700U), with INTEGRATED Rx Vega 7 Graphics, at 14 inches, at 1080p. Therefore, I was expecting to get fantastic battery life. From my testing I got seven and a half hours before I hit 6% battery life and it told me to plug in. This was with the screen set to 50%, the backlit keyboard set to 50%, and the processor set to 75 – 100%. For the first 4 – 5 hours I watched YouTube videos at 1080p with Bluetooth headphones connected. After that I worked on normal everyday tasks while listening to music. During this time, I had multiple tabs open, with Outlook going in the background, while I was typing a document. I was hoping to get closer to 10 hours. But for what I was doing I think getting seven and a half is still particularly good. With a few tweaks I believe I could have gotten 10 hours out of it. Which means that this will last you all day long. Especially, for a quick recharge during lunch. PROS: - Touchpad gets 90% of it right. Would prefer glass and have light actuation with equal pressure throughout. - Keyboard feels great to type on. - Screen is extremely nice for being a 6-bit IPS display. - Processor has plenty of power without destroying battery life. - Battery life is 7.5 hours with moderate use. Would prefer it to be closer to 10. Which I could get by being more conservative. - Build quality and aesthetics are premium. - Excellent price for what you get. - When you press the FN key and “esc” you can lock the FN and can adjust secondary characters with single press (such as volume up and down, or brightness). Which is a nice touch. - Cooling is good. It vents out the back. The device rarely got warm. When it did it was in the middle of the device on the top and bottom. The only time it got hot was when doing heavy workloads with settings turned up. -Fan is excellent. It is quiet most of the time. The loudest it got was when I was setting it up or when I had the screen and processor set to 100%. But even then, it wasn’t too distracting. - It has two 3.2 USB slots along with a single USB C. Along with full size HDMI and aux port. - Touch screen is very responsive. But still not quite as responsive as a tablet or cellphone device. - The screen requires a moderate amount of pressure to move and sticks to where you place it. Hinges appear sturdy to last the long haul. - The webcam has a built-in slider so you don’t get spied on. NICE! - Comes installed with top of the line wireless (Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax)). My testing showed 280 down/30 up. With my speeds being rated at 300 down/30 up on the 5 GHz band. CONS: - Delete key is right next to the power button. Luckily, the power button requires a lot more force to actuate than the delete key which means I did not constantly put my computer to sleep. But could see this being a problem for others. - The page down and arrow keys are small along with the “\”. Which can bother some users. However, the main keys that most people use on a regular basis are full size which improves overall typing for most users. - Touchpad doesn’t have equal pressure throughout and requires a lot of force to click. Would prefer this to be light actuation and equal throughout. Otherwise it does a good job. - It has two down firing speakers located closest to your person which sound relatively good. But you’ll want to use headphones for the best quality. In which case it supports Bluetooth and has a 3.5mm aux out. - With it being 250 nit brightness, this laptop will struggle in extremely bright rooms and outdoor use. - The secondary keys only support play/pause not forward/backward. - Using it in tablet mode wasn’t the best experience as it is heavy as tablets go and I noticed a reduction in overall responsiveness. CONCLUSION: As I mentioned at the beginning of my review. A good laptop scores well in the following categories. 1. Screen quality, 2. Touchpad quality, 3. Keyboard Quality, 4. Battery life. And 5. Performance. If one of these is missing, it is a pass. I am happy to say this laptop does great in all 5 categories. You are getting top of the line specs (Ryzen 4700U, 512 GB M.2 SSD and 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM with full metal body). But by using budget parts, and therefore sacrificing just a little bit of performance, you are able to get an excellent laptop for less than $1000. The screen quality despite being a 6-bit IPS panel is fantastic. The touchpad is accurate and easy to use despite not having equal pressure throughout. The keyboard is a joy to use. The battery life with moderate use came in at 7.5 hours. And last it will be hard to find a better processor at this price. As this guy beats out the Intel 10750H which ships on almost all their “gaming laptops”. However, the integrated graphics does not perform well enough for gaming and the chassis is not equipped to cool for gaming. Which means do I recommend this product? The answer is YES. As long as you don’t plan to game or do serious video editing on it.

Review of Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop is decent enough. I thought 14 inches would have been bigger but I'm fine with the size. The price was excellent at the time of purchase. The only thing, the speaker should have been positioned differently, with it being at the bottom, some of the sound is muffled. Overall, no complaints so far.

Q: QuestionIs this laptop made of aluminum?
Asked by David.
- A:Answer From Dell's Website for this model: "Final touches: We elevated our design with an aluminum top cover and palm rest that features diamond-cut edges around the track pad." So, some aluminum and the rest plastic. Bottom cover is often plastic because it can be removed more easily for upgrades.
