The best of the show, in movie length
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you like Downton Abbey, you will have bought this without any need for a review or recommendation. If you aren't charmed by the show, you may not understand why the movie is so good.

Where is the DA Charm?
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, I broke down and bought this in time to see the second film in theaters, and I wanted it in my collection. It was a good movie, but it lacked a LOT of the charm that the series held. I really do wish they just let the show rest. It was a good movie if you are a fan regardless, and I would recommend it, I have recommended it.

...Welcome Back, Carson and Company
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For Downton devotees, "Downton Abbey, The Motion Picture" is like old home week in that grand old home because it's essentially like watching the next logical installment from the TV series albeit with an extended runtime. Virtually all the characters are back. The sets, silver services, crystal, jewelry, fashions, are more evident and resplendent, and locations are more grand and sumptuous. The drama ranges from not terribly surprising to a bit maudlin and patriotic (perhaps a poke at today's rabidly woke Britons no longer awed or impressed by the monarchy, the peerage and who may wish to expunge this age of elegance and manners from British history with as much zeal as some professors are now doing with Shakespeare in the academy). One thing to note is that many of the interior scenes - particularly in the Downton drawing room - are shot more dimly than the series which is perhaps more realistic but tends to diminish the detail that can be seen on the walls and the decor. If you've been a long time Downton fan, this is a must-have for your collection. And the second Downton motion picture is apparently in production - presumably without Baby Yodas or zombies or superheroes in latex looking for colored stones.

Downton Abbey DVD for Mom
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a nice surprise! Mom has been telling me how she missed the movie and really wanted to see it. I had a 5$ reward certificate from Best Buy, so I decided to drop in Best Buy and see what the price of the DVD was. The double disc set, DVD, code for movie download, and Blu Ray Disc was on sale for 10$ off the price. I was excited and happy to purchase and surprise Mom with this. She only has DVD and I have a Blu Ray so we both made out well. Was also elated with the price paid. A big box store had the DVD only for the same price that I paid for all 3. First time at this location and once again very happy with the information and service received from the employee that attended to me from start to finish.

Downton the Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just under 2 years after the PBS Masterpiece Theatre TV series ends Julian Fellowes brings a sequel to the big screen. The Crawley family is expecting a very special guest. The royal family pays them a visit. However, there is drama afoot not only with the household servants, but without as a plot to kill the king is planned. This is a gem for Downton fans. Unfortunately, for those who had not seen the series on TV, the film opens with a montage of all the special points of the previous seasons with an emphasis on developing the characters for the non-fan. But there are some interesting fresh character notes that come out as the film reaches its finale. Will there be another film??
