Product Description
ECOVACS DEEBOT 500 Vacuum Cleaner takes care of vacuuming so you don't have to. Three cleaning modes and scheduling accessible from the ECOVACS Home App ensures an effortless, thorough clean while you do things you really love. Its low sound level allows you to have conversations or watch TV while it cleans. Max Mode doubles suction power to better clean your hard floors and carpets of dirt and dust when needed. The 520ml dustbin allows DEEBOT 500 to take full advantage of 110 minutes of runtime. DEEBOT comes with a 1 year warranty. Remove protective white foams from front bumpers before use, and move cables and items that could be on the floor out of the way to avoid entanglement. When the job is complete or DEEBOT is low on battery, it will return to its dock to charge for the next cleaning. With Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility, utilize voice commands such as “Alexa, ask DEEBOT to start cleaning”. DEEBOT 500 also comes with an easy to use remote control.

Customers like the suction of the robotic vacuum cleaner. They say it does well, has variable suction levels that auto-switch depending on the room, and picks up so much. Customers also say it's the best robot vacuum for hard floors, does an adequate job at picking up many things, and does a great job of picking up hair.

They say it has all the standard stuff like area clean, room identification, and picks up a tremendous amount of dirt. However, others say that continuous clean only works with full house cleaning, and that the cleaning pad is almost not dirty. They also say that it's difficult to empty and clean, and it scatters dirt into the areas that it already went.

The N8Pro+ has been pretty impressive thus far. It's done a good job picking up dust and dirt from both carpet and hardwood flooring. Suction is strong and it will adjust automatically when it transitions between different types of flooring. The sensors on the vacuum work as advertised. They sense walls and obstacles and will display them on the app as it maps the rooms. I haven't had any issues with the vacuum crashing into baseboards or furnitures. It's been very gentle on my house. Since I don't have any pets, I can't comment on the vacuum's ability to avoid pet accidents. I can tell you the vacuum has trouble with very thick area rugs. It struggles to climb over the edge but it's no fault of the vacuum as my area rug is very thick. Another important thing to note is that the N8 has very good stamina. The battery capacity is enough to vacuum my house which is around 1600 square feet. The only time it need to return to the charger was during the initial mapping. Also, the auto dust bin emptying feature is extremely handy. It is strong enough to suck everything out of the vacuum. This makes the vacuuming process totally hands-free.
The N8Pro is also pretty good at mopping. I have wood floor in the living room and tile in the kitchen. They both looked and felt clean after the mopping cycle. The N8Pro+ can sense my area rug and would avoid mopping it. It also didn't leave my floor overly wet. The amount of water used can be controlled in the app under the preferences setting.
Speaking of the app, Ecovac did a pretty good job on the design and layout. It was quite intuitive and easy to use. I didn't even look at any of the instructions. After all, I'm a man.
My back hurts when I use my traditional vacuum. This robot solves that problem. The Deebot robot has a clean circular design that looks to be well engineered. The design is sleek with a high-tech feel. The robot is about 13 inches in diameter standing 4 inches tall on the floor. it’s large enough to be noticed yet small enough to get the job done. The solid one-tone black color makes it noticeable without being flashy. The robot is easy to spot as it independently vacuums around the home. The charging station is large enough to accommodate the robot without being intrusive. Overall, the Deebot Robot vacuum is well designed with a high-tech look and feel.
The Deebot comes well packaged. It comes securely packed in 3 layers for protection. I’ve ordered items where the packaging did not properly protect the item ordered.
Functionally, the Deebot does a nice job vacuuming and automatically transfers the debris into the charging station after docking. The Deebot is somewhat noisy yet you want something low on the floor to be noticed. The Deebot functions well on smooth surfaces. It slows down when on carpet but still gets the job done. The Deebot returns to its base and relocates itself on the charging station as designed. It required several tries initially but the machine seems to have a self-learning capability and has since had no troubles.
The Mopping function requires preparation. Water needs to be added as well as a disposable mop pad. The mopping function is suited well for small spills and for general wiping of the floor.
Software is available. You will need to download an App (ECOVACSHOME) to a phone, find the right model (Deebot N8 PRO+). The software easily downloads and is easy to use. With the software, the robot scans the entire area to be vacuumed and it shows the path it has followed. You can also use the APP to define the vacuum area to be cleaned.
Tips:
· Don’t forget to remove the little foam pieces between parts before using
· The on/off switch is under the cover
Suggestion: provide one-page quick start instructions - this would be very helpful
Top reviews from other countries
The mapping is excellent. It is quick and effective. I have used it in two different apartments with excellent results both times. The app while not full of features, is good and easy to use.
The only potential drawback is if you have high rugs then it may struggle to get onto them as its ground clearance is quite low. I find its rug/carpet cleaning abilities a bit lower than the iRobot but it literally wipes the floor with most other robot vacuums in terms of hard-floor cleaning.
Speaking of wiping the floor, I seldom use the mopping function and find it more of a gimmick than of actual use and that's been my experience with other vacuums as well.
I read some reviews that complain about the battery life. That hasn't been my experience with around 800-1000 sqf of cleaning but it may be an issue if you have a bigger house or apartment.
Great product that I would definitely recommend buying.
The auto empty bin works, but only if the robot isn't too full, otherwise 50% of dirt stays inside the robot. Increasing vacuum runs improves the situation somewhat. It seems that both sides of the bin are being equally sucked which causes a dead space in the middle. Perhaps blocking one outlet somewhat might alleviate this issue.
The supplied auto empty bin was for the wrong voltage (120 V, not 240 V) and Ecovacs Australia support claims that the unit is not purchased from them (even though it was purchased by clicking on the link on their site), is not supported, does not have global warranty and does not have a universal power supply. Their only solution was to purchase another auto empty bin locally. To all appearances both units are identical.
The Remote Control App is rubbish. It's unstable, the user interface is horrible, inconsistent, continually fails to connect, makes it impossible to divide rooms. It is impossible to overstate how bad the App is. You should know that unless you push the "auto" button on the robot itself, this device requires an internet connection to operate.
