Yes, Charley, a padlock (not provided) can be used on the Suncast Calypso Vertical Deck Box model VDB19500.
A cam lock is already factory assembled to the right door panel. With the lid closed and the cam lock in the locked position, a padlock neck can insert through the hole in the bottom of the cam.

Can a lock be used on the closing latch mechanism?

The maximum inside depth of the Suncast Calypso Vertical Deck Box model VDB19500 will be 2 feet 2.75 inches from center front that curves outward to the back wall. The minimum inside wall depth along the side will be 2 feet 0.875 inches from front to back. The inside width from one side to the other will be 3 feet 9.125 inches. The inside top panel height will be 3 feet 2.625 inches from floor to lid. Thank you for your question, Charley, and your interest in Suncast products.

It sure would be easy to serve food from the top of this unit. Just tall enough to store a lot of items inside but not too tall to serve from.

It&#39;s made of a plastic resin, so water exposure is no big deal as far as getting rained on. Everything in ours has stayed dry so far, and it doesn&#39;t have any shelter to keep the rain off of it. I wouldn&#39;t say it&#39;s completely watertight because there are no seals in the seams. But it&#39;s done a great job keeping water out so far.

I haven&#39;t had any trouble with the lid. A recommendation might be to double check the &quot;ball&quot; nuts and make sure they are installed in the proper direction .
I have mine facing outward on the lid and inward on the box.

Has anyone else had trouble with the lid? We finally took the hinges off because the lid was pulling on the back to the point it is bowed.

We are using this as a Donations Drop Box as it has a much larger holding capacity than the 'barrels' we were using and it LOOKS fantastic! It is easy to access and retrieve items placed inside ... AND ... it was very easy to put together. Another nice feature is it was delivered a week before the 'no later than' date ... a very nice surprise.

LOVE this for all my Patio cushions!

Love the product for cushion storage and design is attractive. Also bought another storage in the same design line and it looks great in my backyard. Worth every cent!

Attractive storage

Bought this to put on the back of my camper to carry my generator. My husband reinforced the hinges so it wouldn't blow apart going down the road. I am giving it 5 stars.  so far it has fit the tailgate carrier perfectly and my generator. It should protect the generator from the weather and Theft I hope. Doors and lift top give easy access to generator and plenty of air flow. Hope it lives up to my expectations

Really nice.  It's a little wobbly in the front but okay when all closed up.  Great size and it went together fairly easy.

The box arrived on time and in relatively good shape -- there was one corner of the packaging that was damaged (had a hole through the cardboard packaging -- could see the deck box through the hole). It was not missing any parts and seemed to be of quality construction. It does take a while to put together (especially, with unexpected rain hitting -- a lot of starting/stopping, haha). My only real complaint is that the front was noticeably scratched -- the front door panels came with scratches as did the front of the lid. I do not know if it was just poor packaging (maybe they moved around/slid in the box and got scratched -- or maybe it was scratched at the factory; all I know is that it is scratched). If the pieces were scratched on the back or inside (or even on the side), I wouldn't mind so much. But the scratches are dead center in the front -- very eye-catching. Because of this, I do not think it is worth the retail price -- maybe $50 less but definitely not the asking price. If it wasn't for the scratches, I'd love it. But with the scratches, I just "like" it (and feel like I overpaid a bit).

Overall satisfied, but (came with scratches)...

I bought this to put on my new patio to store different kinds of outdoor items. I use it for towels, barbeque items, paper plates, bug spray etc. so I don't have to keep running in the house. So far we have had a few rainstorms, and everything has remained dry. My husband is in the process of putting in a shelf for me. He's making it so the shelf sits on some metal supports so I can remove it if I need to. The only thing I don't like is that the top didn't sit flat when closed. My husband adjusted something and it's better. It's very high, and is quite large. I had to move it around until I found the right spot for it. The top is flat so I have it near my grill to place items on. It is a good quality, and I'm happy I purchased this item as it is large enough for what I want it for.

Keeps items dry

This cabinet is exactly what we needed to store our outdoor cushions. It is huge! The height makes it useful as a makeshift sideboard for serving drinks. The finish is a faux wicker and coordinates with my outdoor furniture. It was very easy to assemble. I didn't give five stars because my husband had to enlarge four bracket holes and there was a scatch on the front panel, minor issues.

Good outdoor storage

Overall good quality and unusually large capacity. Easy assembly - with 1 exception. One nut welded onto a hinge had NO threads. Fortunately I have a tap/die set and was able to successfully fix this problem. This was literally the final assembly step so I don't know what someone else would have done...probably would be faced with returning the whole thing.

Downside - 4 pieces have abrasions/scratches. Of course each one faces the front so every problem shows. Can't tell if it's poor packing by the manufacturer or unusually rough handling by the shipper. Nevertheless, if this unit was on display at your local Walmart you would NOT buy it off the floor (well, perhaps with a substantial discount). When you pay full price, you expect a "new" piece. Due to distance from a Walmart, and the fact I destroyed most of the packaging materials while unpacking, really didn't give me an option to return.
