Models this size and with lower levels of clarity were $30k not many years back. TV was well packaged and palletized for the cross-country trip. My Denon receiver used to be the big brain in my audio cabinet but now the audio-out of this 'smart' TV reaches back to the receiver via fiber optic cable and the TV controls all interfaces. Speech to text microphone on remote makes searches on YouTube amazingly easy.

I like the TV but there is one problem that is irritating. I don't think it's a problem on all of the 940Ds but many others have reported it as well. The issue is called ghosting or trailing. You will notice a trail of the image when there is movement. I first noticed it when watching hockey so I thought that it only occurred with fast movement but that is not the case. I've seen it on movies with simple Movement such as the movement of a head or hand. It's really prevelant when the subject is against a light background. The images on the TV are great other than that issue. The colors pop, the black levels are great and the brightness is great. The viewing angles are limited so you will notice a big difference in the image from extreme angles. It's a great TV overall but I'll need to work with Sony to get the trailing issue fixed.Read full review

This is the best non-OLED 75 inch on the market. Price has dropped from $8k to about $3k in 7 months, thus more affordable. The feature set is fantastic and the picture is very close to OLED. There are many 75 inch sets that cost half as much, but this offers a much better picture. I still think $3k is too much for a TV. Once this level of quality reaches $1,800 then it will be a good value.

Went through 3 940D's. One had build date of Oct, the other 2 had build dates Feb 2017. All 3 had several issues and Sony is refunding. Had to fight for the refund as Sony engineers called my issues normal which they obviously were not. I bought the tv for the size, price, and for watching sports and broadcast tv. Sports and single color on screen seemed to bring out all of the flaws of the tv. Was I just unlucky getting 3 tvs being defective. I hardly doubt it. Unable to provide video link of tv to show how bad it was but images are attached for DSE, Light Bleed, Bright Pops, Blurred images.

Sony's flagship TV for 2016 was very disappointing. You tend to buy a TV to watch great content and view it with an exceptional image. This model has generally good FALD, but that's where it ends. Poor uniformity, blooming, poor 3D performance and worst of all.... smearing... bad, bad smearing. All you need to do is google "sony 940d smearing" and you'll begin to undersatand. After getting this set, I sold it off a week later and went with a smaller 65" TV from another manufacturer and shockingly... that set had NONE of the issues this flagship model from Sony did.
