I tried to call the mfg. number but got fast busy all the time; gave up and worked on it myself. Bought 2 larger screws for the side plate and glued them in with wood glue; its holding. Durning the night one of the tripod legs collapsed in causing the whole thing to fall on it's side. Was grateful not to have a wet painting in it I will do as another person recommended -- getting rubber washers and wingnuts for the legs if I ever choose to set it up on its legs again. I will use it sitting down and so placed it on a table that I had that is about 22 inches high and hopefully it will work out okay. The price was good and the shipping time satisfactory and the wood pallette is okay i guess but i'm new at painting so not sure if it shoudl have had a fnish on it or not. I didn't order it for the pallette so it's okay either way. I suggest to leave it standing up for a day or two to see if it will collapse suddenly before using it and/or doing the rubberwasher wingnut suggestion posted by someone else here. The price is reasonable if you don't tweaking it before using it. I have a very small apartment and should have relalized that the tripod legs would make a large footprint. I have to combine a small office are with my painting; therefore, with the tripod legs extended, i couldn't open a desk drawer and also thought I may trip over the legs which is another reason that I collapsed the legs fully and put it on a table. Hope my review helps others to make an informed purchasing decision. I purchased it for the good price being willing to tweak it if necessary. I am new at painting, so I didn't want to make a huge investment and liked that i could fold the whole thing up into a suitcase and take it to paint outside or to put away in a closet if necessary. The wood is attractive and it is heavy and so far seems sturdy on a table. It may also be sturdy if you raised it to only table height and not try to use the telescope legs which raise it to standing height... that's were it seems most unstable and where you would need those rubber washers and wing nuts. I though maybe the manufacturer would offer a slight rebate for the time I had to invest in fixing it, but could not get an answer on the phone number provided in the package.Read full review

got it today, legs wont hold unless you use pliers to tighten thumbscrews, one thumbscrew wasnt even on fastnerer. I own a julian and it is so many times better than this. this one price was low and I now see why..wont deal with them again.

Made of good wood the easel can be used for medium and big canvases. However, unless you tighten all the bolts on legs, it may fall it happened to me 3 times luckily without a canvas. The top canvas holder was crooked and we had to re glue it and make new holes for screws

Good quality wood and manufacture for the money but the hardware was of very poor quality and some wing nuts were the wrong size. I replaced the leg hardware myself and it stopped falling over. All in all a decent deal but replace some of the critical hardware.

Product is well finished, very portable and well constructed. A minor point is that the hardware was represented as brass and is really brass plated. (I checked with a magnet.) Overall, I am well pleased with my new French easel! It fits in my small studio and is light enough to take with me should I want to...
