Michelen says:Japanese businessman Hiro Yamamoto came to Sonoma County from Japan in 1988, fell in love with the quality of life here, and the rest is history in the making. Set in the heart of downtown Petaluma, Hiro's restaurant serves some of the freshest sushi around.Sushi and sashimi are plated to please the eye, and innovative maki rolls are presented with a twist (as in a Dynamite roll done with salmon and fresh crab salad baked over a California roll with a creamy piquant sauce). If you don't see a roll you like on the menu, the sushi chefs will customize one for you. Many nights, Hiro himself works the floor, seeing to the satisfaction of his guests. Unique wood-block prints by Naoki Takenouchi add an artistic element to the room's casual studio feel.
