I purchased and installed four of these panels in series using 3/4" pvc pipes with a diverter valve that sends about 40% of my return flow through these four panels. Remember to use o-ring safe lubricant when you’re tightening the fittings or you may have leaks. My panels were installed in series on a flat roof and I run the pump 8 hours a day during the time when they receive the most sunlight. The results are much better than I was expecting. My temperature rises by 4-6 degrees daily depending on the cloudiness. Today my pool hovers between 88-90 degrees while my neighbors pool temp is 76. This was a learning experience and I will share my lessons with you. After installing these panels, my temperature immediately climbed to the mid 80's. That's when I noticed that the pool was 'draining' out about 1/2 inch of water per day. I immediately assumed the panels were leaking. After inspecting them thoroughly, I couldn’t find a single leak. I still had doubts so I installed a large tarp underneath the panels to see if I could catch any leaking water on the tarp. Again nothing. Then it got me thinking, this all started once my water temp started to climb so what if my loss was due to evaporation? Sure enough, googling my problem turned up many similar cases. One suggestion I found was to go out at night and check for steam coming out from the pool. So at 1am I grabbed the LED flashlight and took a trip to the pool. Lo and behold, I found vapors on the surface of my pool. Since my pool was at 86 and the ambient temp was low 60’s, I was loosing a ton of water to evaporation and my pool temp would drop by about 4 degrees. The solution was to cover my pool at night. I built myself a cheap home-made tarp cover with pvc pipes and 94 cent pool noodles and began covering my pool at night. With the pool cover I barely lose any water and my temperature barely drops 1 degree. That means I can run my pump much less now.Read full review

Apr 08, 2016 Leaks I cannot tell if the fittings leak. There is no way to remove them thus no way to fix it. You have to use the fittings that come with it due to it's design. The fittings are elbows which slow down the flow of water. The twist fittings cannot be purchased at any hardware store that I can find.

The permanent fittings leak. There is no way to remove them thus no way to fix it. You have to use the fittings that come with it due to it's design. The fittings are elbows which slow down the flow of water. Solar panels made for above ground pools heat much better than this panel.
