I don't have a lot to compare them to as is my first real set of on-ear headphones. The ear cushions are on the firm side which is actually a good thing as they settle in without crushing. They also do an admirable job of blocking out ambient noise. The in-cord volume and selector control works perfectly and the cord length is perfect for inflight use and anything outside of studio listening. Bass response is excellent, not boomy or hollow. In fact all frequencies are well represented. To be honest, these headphones are excellent. The only critique is the head band. The radius of the band is larger than my head and probably anybody else's so it felt a little odd at first, but I gave them s try on a coast to coast and I never once took them off because they were uncomfortable. Bottom line: very happy with this purchase!Read full review

Compares nicely to the SONY MDR-ZX750BN headphones of sound quality and comfort. Soft, velour-like ear cushions and delicate foam lining the band for when hanging around the neck. Smooth ear piece adjusting and simple cord lock (can be removable). Basically, it's comfortable and has great sound quality -- would recommend! Price was an exceptional deal in contrast to the retail price.

For curiosity I bought one used pair for $30(looks almost new). I want to see why a MSRP around $200 headphones can be have for $30. I used to own HD25 but sold it due to the high clamping power on my ears. HD25 sounds very energetic. To my surprise urbanite is on the opposite way. It's muddy or mellow. It is comfortable to wear and the clamping pressure is less than HD25. But when I wiggle the headband and try to loose it up a bit and then the band broke! I tore the band assembly apart and found that the connection part between the band and earpiece casing uses cheap clear plastic! I can not believe German engineers can have design rules like this! Since the earpads are comfortable, so I put them on my sony mdr-7502. After several days another surprise showed up. The earpads started to peeling spot by spot! I guess for Sennheiser, you will need to stick with their legendary models. Sennheiser doesn't seem to know which corner can be cut in production. ^_^ Read full review

The product does the job. The Urbanites do not fit "like a glove" but they do fit. The compartment to store items is useless as with items in it, the case can't shut and it doesn't close to keep the items in there. For the price, it does what I need it to do.
