Chalets on Terry Peak in the Northern Black Hills The summit of Terry Peak is one of the highest points in the United States east of the Rockies, and more snow settles here than anywhere else in the region, attracting droves of skiers each winter. Come spring, the snow melts to reveal miles of biking, hiking, and horseback-riding trails that wind across the 7,000-foot-high mountain. Terry Peak Chalets are located mere steps from Stewart Lift, which gives you easy access to the scenic trails. Owner Chris Kenzy describes the four chalets as “Colorado contemporary.” They’re post-and-beam homes lined with wrought-iron light fixtures and stone fireplaces. Some bathrooms feature farm hydrant sinks and wood paneling reminiscent of outhouses.
