Details: Apple just announced the iPhone 3GS at their annual WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference). New features for the iPhone 3GS include a magnetometer, allowing a digital compass to interpret GPS and mapping more precisely. With a new 3 megapixel camera, the 3GS can shoot video with a small selection of editing options. It is now capable of autofocus and tap-to-focus.

Most importantly, the S stands for speed. The device has gotten a siginificant processor and RAM bump. Applications will load and perform much faster. The new iPhone 3GS will be available in 16GB (black) and 32GB (black or white) models at Apple Retail Stores and AT&T Stores.

I did this months ago. I believe you have to go to the At&t store, not through Apple though. Also... make sure it is a real At&t store and not an "authorized retailer"

the update is not much of a big difference to waist a free upgrade on if you alreadey own a reg iphone 3g.
video camera -can get that in the cydia if yours in jailbroken
3 mega pixel camera from a 2 mega pixel camera.

alot of updates apple have are things phones like htc and nokia had these features in phones realesed back in 2005. i own a iphone but they want u to buy the same thing over and over with minor updates they know they can put in one phone ahead of time
