You're right mystyc, and now it's kitten season. Cats belonging to those people who don't spay/neuter will have kittens left and right and many of them will be sent to shelters or dumped somewhere and eventually end up in shelters if they live long enough. I got my most recent kitty (I have three and my daughter, who lives with us has two and they're all rescue kitties) from Cat Welfare a few months ago and at that time they had almost 300 cats and kittens...and kitten season hadn't even begun! My kitty wasn't free, I paid $60, but she has her shots, has been spayed AND she's microchipped! Doing it on your own, you can't even get their shots for $60. And don't forget the dogs and puppies. Instead of supporting puppy mills by buying from many pet stores, adopt from a shelter or rescue organization. Rescue animals, both the cats and dogs, are very sweet and loving. It's as though they know you saved them and they really appreciate it.
