FL. 3rd grader brings loaded gun to school FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- Police say a third-grader brought a gun to school and showed it off to a classmate in Fort Lauderdale. The incident happened about 10:45 a.m. Friday at Walker Elementary School and came just two days after a student across town at Dillard High School was killed in a school hallway. The child allegedly showed a 9mm handgun to a classmate, who then reported it to a teacher. The gun wasn't fired and it's not known if it was loaded. Police haven't identified the child and no decision has been made whether to charge them with a crime. http://www.wptv.com/content/tcoast/story.aspx?content_id=adb0361e-3c34-44cd-88c4-49b2f854155b Four teens stabbed at Martin County High School MARTIN COUNTY, FL -- Four teenage girls were stabbed Friday night following a football game between rival teams at Martin County High School. In the aftermath, the Martin County Sheriff's Office says one person was tased by a deputy. According to MSO's public information officer, another teen was bitten by a Martin County Sheriff's deputy's K-9 in a third, unrelated incident on campus following the game. The stab and bite victims were treated at nearby hospitals. NewsChannel 5 was the only station to speak to several of those victims. Two of the stab victims were treated at Martin Memorial Hospital South, and tell NewsChannel 5 they know their attacker. The Sheriff's Office isn't releasing details but says they are still searching for that woman. The victims tell NewsChannel 5, they were walking away from the football field when the attacker, whom they wouldn't identify, bumped into them. Within moments they say the woman took out a knife and began stabbing them. They say a 16-year-old sophomore at Jensen Beach High School was stabbed in the leg. Her 18-year-old sister, a junior at the same school, was stabbed in the arm. A third victim, an 18-year-old graduate of Martin County High School was stabbed in the shoulder, according to the victims. The fourth victim, another 18-year-old MCHS graduate, says she was stabbed in the hand and had to have stitches. All four are expected to recover. They are working with deputies to help catch their attacker. The victims say they've had problems with the attacker since middle school over things like "jealousy," although they wouldn't elaborate. One victim claims this is the second time she's been stabbed by the same young woman, and tells NewsChannel 5 that she has a restraining order against her. The teenager bitten by the K-9 also spoke to NewsChannel 5 outside of the hospital after the attack. The MCHS freshman, who only wished to be identified as "Jessica," says as students left the field following the football game, the situation became "chaotic," with people pushing, running and screaming. She says she was punched by a fellow-student. As she ran from him, she claims the K-9 chased her and bit her three times: once in the back and twice on the buttocks. She was treated and released from the hospital, and says it appears the K-9 bit her accidentally. MSO says deputies handled the situation appropriately and did everything possible to keep the crowd safe. http://www.wptv.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=1A7F49D9-6414-4728-B69D-A468F124C51B&gsa=true Couple shot dead in apparent home invasion WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- A $5,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest of the killer, or killers, of a quiet and popular West Palm Beach couple. Aaron and Linda Sampson were fatally shot inside their home on Australian Court Thursday night in what detectives believe was a home invasion. Aaron Sampson's brother, Frank Sampson, Jr. believes the couple knew their attacker. "Whoever did this," he said. "They know because that's the only way they can get in that house." Frank says his brother was an ex-Marine who lived under tight security, including the watchful eye of surveillance video. "My brother would take a bullet at that door rather than opening the door to let someone hurt his wife," said Frank Sampson. Detectives aren't sure if the Sampsons knew their killer, or if they were tricked into opening the front door. Detective Adam Myers explains, "It's not like a typical burglary where there's a sign of forced entry." But, he notes, they're not sure what, if anything, was stolen. Myers tells NewsChannel 5, "There's nothing obvious. They're not missing televisions or the obvious things most people have in their homes." "This just does not add up," said Frank Sampson. He adds that money may have been the motive. A Jaguar and a Mercedes are parked in the front lot and both husband and wife were business owners. Linda owned a pastry company and worked as a hospital lab technician. Aaron put in extra hours running a successful moving and storage business. Myers says, "People may have known, or think, they may have money in the home." Still, neighbors cannot believe anyone would want to kill a couple that was so well-liked. "You could walk up and down this whole neighborhood and everybody knows Sampson," said neighbor Tim Borick. "I mean he'd been there for years." Their next door neighbor, Inous Lewis, says he was the first to know about the attack. He tells NewsChannel 5, Aaron Sampson ran over to his house around 8:30pm Thursday and rang the doorbell. Lewis explains, "He told me that he had been shot and he said him and his wife had been robbed." Lewis called 911, and says, "I never knew his wife was already in the house, dead." He says Aaron gave few details before being rushed to Saint Mary's Medical Center where he died. Although unconfirmed by police, Lewis explains, "He said it was two guys; I know he said that." The Sampsons also played a key role at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where Aaron was an elder and played the saxophone. Congregation members were expecting Aaron at a service Thursday night. As they waited for him to arrive, they learned about the shooting and rushed to the home in tears. "We feel so helpless," said Pastor Joseph Tyson. "Realizing that other than just being there, being supportive, there's nothing humanly we can do." The Sampsons leave behind two daughters and several young grandchildren. The family gathered at the church Friday night to make funeral arrangements. NewsChannel 5 is still awaiting details on the funeral plans. Meanwhile, detectives have been working on this case non-stop since it happened. The team of six homicide detectives came in to work shortly after the murder and haven't been home since. Myers explains, "These investigations in their first hours are probably the most vital. That's when you're gonna get the most information." The only tips received have been regarding men seen fleeing the scene going east on 36th Street with guns. Police searched a nearby canal but found no evidence. Now, investigators hope new leads will lead them to the killer or killers. If you have any information that will help solve this case, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS. You can remain anonymous.
