I've seen some better deals from Dell to be sure, but I wouldn't say they are "jacking" you with this deal. Dells like this aren't for power users, but for anyone that doesn't need major graphics rendering, this system will be quite ample. Power users like the ones I'm speaking of usually don't buy prefab desktop systems for gaming anyway--

To buy the cheapest components equivalent at NewEgg:

Core 2 Quad 2.4 - $180
Motherboard - $50
3gb Memory - $50
500 sata HD - $75
WVHP OS - $99
DVD Burner - $25
Case w/ PSU - $40 (Crap case & PSU)
KB & Mouse - $30

$549 + shipping (~40) = All said around 600 bucks. This Dell, even after tax and shipping would be cheaper than a home-build with parts from NewEgg and with a fraction of the headache that sometimes comes when you are piecing together a system.

So I guess what I'm trying to say... don't hate on Dell too bad. It's not like they are doing your sister. While this computer may not be the best fit for you, this might be the best fit for someone. (or Dell may not sell too many.)

This cannot be a "Catch of the Day" when it is listed all the time. It is a normal run of the mill regular deal by Dell. Nothing less....nothing more.

After years of following Deal Catcher, it is obvious to me they are connected at the hip with Dell. Deal Catcher must be picking up some very good **** fees... Actually, at times they do highlight some good deals on Dell products. However, it is always Caveat emptor “buyer beware.”

The funny thing is I just bought that system from the office, its actually a pretty good deal. I do agree that dell is the catch of the day a bit too often. However, over the years dealcatcher has become know as the place to find dell deals. So the dells actually sell and they are very popula with our usersr. The main page is ranked by popularity under the catch of the day. Were working on some new stuff and should have a new site launched in September. There will be a new system for choosing the catch of the day and I promise it will change frequently.

I agree w/ John. This system isn't a bad deal at all, and I do like the fact that I can come here to find some of the best deals that Dell has to offer. You never know when you'll stumble across a gem.

On another note, I'm sure they are paid based on sales they send Dell's (or any merchant for that matter) way-- so there is probably quite a few people that are buying them-- otherwise the guys at Dealcatcher would probably kick Dell to the curb and post "Deals of the Day" that will actually sell and thereby netting them some $$. I can't imagine any sane person pushing a product that doesn't sell or that people don't want expecting a profit.

The guys at Dealcatcher started this site to make money?? Oh my god I'm so shocked. They should make money, this site is a business. They're not holding themselves out to be a NPO, some geek's discussion board or otherwise--- they are filling a demand in the marketplace for lazy people like myself to have a one-stop-shop for good deals. I personally like the tech deals more than, say, the deals on women's underwear that get posted. But I've also bought plenty of other crap (like a few pairs of shoes from Endless) that I found through this site.

Keep up the good work guys, those complainers probably can't buy items like this on what their mother gives them for allowance anyway--
