I had a 69.99 charge on my card about a month ago, and hadn't purchased anything from them for a year. After failing to get any response from Classic Closeouts, I contacted Discover. They reversed the charge, contacted the company on my behalf, and got my money back. I googled Classic Closeouts around that time and found a number of folks with the same issue. Won't be buying from them again!

I also had a $69.99 charge on my Discover Card. I had to call Discover to get the charge removed. The good news - After about two weeks, they were able to correct the situation. The bad news - ClassicCloseouts still has my credit card information.

CC.com charged me $79.99 and $69.99. Looks like i got ripped off more than anyone else on this list. And looks like these morons keep doing it until you decide to call your CC company. Also filed a report with BBB (not the only one apparently) and had to have my CC number changed.

BEWARE of these AS$holes

I had the same thing happen to me--$69.99 charged to my Discover, almost exactly 1 month after my first Classic Closeouts purchase. I e-mailed the company AND contacted Discover. Discover opened an investigation, but within a few days, CC issued a credit for the full amount.

Same here! They charged $59.99 to my bank check card in June. This was almost a whole year after i had purchased something from them online for $9.99. Good thing I check my bank account online regularly. I tried to contact them via email and a phone number which I'd tracked down online but they never responded to me. i had to cancel my check card with the bank but Classic Closeouts finally credited my acct almost 2 weeks after that. THEY MUST BE MAKING A KILLING ON UNSUSPECTING VICTIMS (CUSTOMERS) RIGHT NOW!

They hit me with a 69.99 charge also. AMEX took care of it. I will demand an explanation from AMEX on why their security failed to detect this and what steps they will take to prevent this company from using my Card number or selling it to another party. I hate to go through the hassle of getting a new card, but the security has been compromised.

I also found an authorized charge from this company on my AMEX ($49.99). I filed a dispute with AMEX but it will take a while for it to be resolved.

I too have been fraudulently charged by Classic Closeouts. Once in July, 2008 for $69.99; and one in August, 2008 for $79.99. I changed all my info on the "my account" section of their website (phony name & address); and deleted credit card info. I contacted my credit card company, the attorney general of the state in which I live; the NY Dept. of Consumer Protection; and a local tv news station. In checking many consumer complaint websites, there are hundreds of people who have been victimized by this company. Personally I think they should be criminally charged because this is credit card fraud at the highest level[/font]

Zaba search for that name provided an entry containing the same address, however no phone number was listed. The Nassau Property office [http://www.nassaucountyny.gov/myn.../main.jsp] doesn't show owner names for the property, so cannot confirm who may live there or subsequently own the place. Hopefully a SDer lives nearby and can verify.

More info found by another user (Note: a search shows a lot of businesses share the 1150 Broadway address which means it is a PMB [postal mail box]). No use going there.:

I have this same problem but my credit card refuses to give me a new card! They said it doesn't matter if I get a new account number the charges will follow my account or some crap! It is also in amount of 69.99 and I haven't bought from them since 2006!I have already had the charge taken off and then it was recharged and taken off again! I'm getting annoyed

The company placed an unauthorized charge of $69.99 on my credit card 8 months after my initial purchase. I disputed the charge and had it taken off my card. I logged into my account on ClassicCloseouts.com and removed my credit card information on file. I received another unauthorized charge for $69.99 the following month. I received another unauthorized charge for $59.99 yesterday. I contacted customer support and requested that they delete my account. I also filed a complaint with the New York BBB. They practice credit card fraud and should be shutdown. There are several other cases just like mine.

This happened on my American Express card as well for a charge of $69.99. I received no return call although I called the Classic Closeouts number and left a message twice. American Express got the charge reversed for me, and I filed a complaint with the NY Attorney General's Office. Although the Attorney General's Office doesn't prosecute individual complaints, if it receives a pattern of complaints about the same merchant, it might open an investigation.

I just want everyone to know that they should not purchase anything from classiccloseouts.com, this company has charged my Visa Check Card without my permission.

I ordered something from them over a year ago and I received what I had ordered. However, this was the only time I have ordered from them. But that didn't stop them from charging my card on June 30 of this year for $49.99 and then again on August 28 for $69.99. I have attempted to resolve this on numerous occasions unfortunately no one returns phone calls that are left on voice mail nor do they respond to emails. I am in the process of disputing these charges with my bank. I have requested they retire my card number and issue me a new card in the hopes that ClassicCloseouts.com will no longer have access to my information. I have removed all of my stored information from their website. I have also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

I have done the majority of my shopping via Internet for several years and have not had this problem before. I realize that in the end this is my fault for not checking the company out before placing the original order in 2007

My story is basically the same as everyone else. 7-14-08 $69.99; 8-12-08 59.99;(on about 8-20 these disputed charges were credited to my credit card. I also removed my credit card information from their website.) On 8-28-08 another 59.99 charge which I have disputed. It looks like I may have to change my card number.
I have a chase card. Some of the reps are less than helpful. Keep trying until you get one that will credit your account (dispute the charges). I thought I should add my experience. I am sure there are thousands that do not.

Same thing with me.

I've had the same card for a decade, adn it really annoys me that I now have to change.

4 times they have tried to scam me fro 79.99.

This last time they made the charge a "reissue", and they had sent "
documentation" to teh cc company to support the charge.

I talked to "floor superviser" at capital one, and I have to say I am not impressed. Pretty sure it was a call center somewhere i india. They were just following their script, and had no understanding that there are probably thousands who are not aware of these bogus charges.

I requested that the merchant get their terminal terminated, since it should not be MY job ever month to clean up this fraud that I repeatedly have told capital one about.

I tell you, America is going to the dogs with all the incompetence and apathy going on.

I'm tempted to hunt down these crooks and terminate their teminals myself. Seems like violence is the only language they might understand. In the old days horse thieves were hung, and these bandits have stolen enough money to buy several stables worth.

Seems white collar crime under a million dollar is ignored, Maybe Obama can clean up this injustice. Let the car thieves go and round up these white collar crooks instead.

They are playing a game of doing many small transactions, raking in hundreds of K, flying under the radar.

And when it gets too hot they even refund after complaints. How about we round up a bunch of volunteers and take a field trip to NY? I bet the crooks have a nice house in a nice hood. Would it be not a shame if all their neighbors found
out they were pretty criminals?

Aha!

The company is run by a Daniel Greenberg, of Lawrence New York, who settled with FTC in 2003 fro more than $500,000 after a fraudulent rebate program in a different company. See
http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2003/06/urbanq.shtm

I am going to contact FTC again, and have the dogs sicked on them.

Or maybe we should sick some NY mob on them?

So little time, so many options.

I bought a $5.00 thing from them in late 2007. In july 2008 i discovered that they have charged me $69.99 on my TCF account. I fax the facts to TCF e regulation and made a claim to online representative of TCF Bank; also tried in vain connecting to Classic Closeouts. Recently when I was going through my statements, i discovered that TCF Bank has not credited the money back to me and I was told that as I had not disputed the earlier $5 transaction thats why my claim was rejected. I feel really bad about TCF bank not returning my money.

TCF is in the wrong there. Ask to speak to supervisor. It is THEM that allows this crook to use credit cards, not you. If credit card companies had been responsible they would have gotten this schlemiel of a scheyster off the streets.

Classic Closeout place $149.00 in unauthorized charges on my credit card. I made a small purchase from them in 2007 and they retained my credit card #. Thus in 2008 they place over $149.00 in fraudulent charges on my credit card. My bank representative phone them and the billing person advised her she would return her call, but has failed to. I am planning to file a lawsuit aginst this company for fraud. It seems they have found a way to use the Internet and Visa to steal funds from consummers. Classic Closeout needs to be out of business and all the stolen funds needs to be returned to consummers.
