The Home Depot is Closing down all EXPO Centers, so if you have one near you, they should start having some good sales soon.

ATLANTA (AP) - Home Depot Inc. says it's cutting 7,000 jobs and closing its smaller Expo chain as the recession continues to batter the nation's housing market.

The nation's largest home improvement retailer says the cuts announced Monday morning will affect about 2 percent of its work force.

Under the plan, the Atlanta-based retailer will close its 34 Expo Design Centers, five YardBIRDS stores, two Design Center stores and a bath remodeling business that has seven locations. Those stores will close in the next two months.

Its core Home Depot stores won't be affected.

The company also plans to shed 2,000 non-store jobs and freeze the pay of its officers.

Home Depot will record a $532 million pretax charge in the fourth quarter related to the closures and layoffs.

I called my closest Expo Design Center today.

10-30% off in the store.

The only specific department I asked about was door hardware (only 10% off)

They will not combine the Home Depot 10% off coupons with the clearance.

If anyone has any inside information on when they will increase the discounts, please let us know.

It applies to all EXPO Centers.............at this point the HD stores themselves will only have sales at the stores they are going to close, and they are currently going thru the process of deciding which stores to close. I know that one of the 3 near me is going to close, but they haven't announced when yet.

And as far as HD goes, the sales may not end up being real good since they can send it all back to the main warehouses and restock it in a store that isn't closing down.
