Just to clarify, I test all codes before I add them to my list. When I tested the code in question, I saw a discount of 15%. I had read elsewhere of others having a similar issue (some saw 10%, some saw 15%). My understanding is that AE has corrected the problem; the code is valid for a 15% discount. EDIT: I still saw some instances in various posts dated yesterday that some people are only seeing the 36123979 code work for 10% off. I tested it again before posting the updated list a few minutes ago, and again, it gave me 15% off ("The 15% off has been applied."). Apparently, this code came from a postcard someone received, and the card clearly stated "15% off". I've also read a report that someone called AE to complain, and their response was basically "it's a misprint, so we don't have to do anything". Personally, I haven't received this card, so I can't say for sure what's correct, but I do find it very odd that some people enter the code and get 10% off while others get 15%. I really don't know what to tell y'all. If I find out anything new, I'll post. Thanks!

ORIGINAL: midnightlvr oh i mean i paid my bill fully and i still have the check copy.. what should i do!! help!!! call customer service and tell them you already paid the amount in full. the balance should be zero. you have the check stab that shows the check has been cashed. if its neccessary you will fax it to them as proof. you need to be on top of this. i dont know why they would split your balance. make no sense to me at all. do whatever it takes to get this striaghten out. ask for a supervisor if you have to. if this doesnt get fix, the next statement period they might put it as late payment . that means alot of points taken off your credit score. Absolutely stay on top of this. Call customer service and ask for a supervisor right off the bat. If the rep says they can help you, explain that you've already spoken with a rep and that you want a supervisor. They are required by law to put one on if requested. Take note of the names of everyone you speak with. Once you get the supervisor on, explain the issue and get a name, direct extention, and fax number for someone who can look into it. Fax a copy of your statement showing the balance due along with both sides of the check used to make the payment. This will show that $#.## was due, $#.## was paid with check ####, and payment cleared their bank on ##/##/2007. Make sure you get and keep the fax confirmation page to prove when and where you sent everything to. Call that person a few minutes after faxing the papers to make sure they received it and understand exactly what the issue is. I'm really confused by the spliting the balance thing; I've never heard of this before for an AE card. The card has a single balance; what's to split? I know with my Lowes card, payments can be split if I take advantage of a no-interest promo (balance vs finance charges), but obviously, AE doesn't have promos like that. Just remember to make note of the date and time you do things as well as the name of every person you deal with. If the issue continues to escalate, you'll have proof of what was done when and who dropped the ball. If all else fails, contact the BBB and your state's Attorney General's office; you'll have all the information they'll need, and they have much more clout than us lowly customers. Hopefully, you won't need to go that far, though. Good luck!
