K i got it now,
first you'll need an even amount of items, duh buy one get one hehe
as long as 2 items are the same price it works.
which ever items you want half off, just make sure you add them first.
once all items are added the top half items will be 50% off and the bottom half will be regular price
so say you buy 4, the first 2 on the list are half
if you buy 100, the first 50 will be half off
so you have to add the ones you want half off first and then the others
so just go from most expensive to least expensive, and make sure 2 qualifying items are the same price
AND OF COURSE all items must qualify, regular items won't go half off or give you an even amount
o and as long as you have 2 items that are the same price all other the qualifying top half ones can be whatever price, but the most expensive is like 25
but you can change quantity to 9 and get all 9 half off and save a lot, but i don't know who'd want 9 of the same ones
but realistically say you wanted 5 but not six. what you can do is change the most expensive to quantity 2 or three, and exchange in store without a reciept and just get a different color or ones that are the same price on the ticket.

Wish I had an answer for you, but I can't replicate the problem. The only solution I can think of is to call in your order; the rep will be able to adjust whatever needs adjusting.

Well, gee, I take a few days off for the holiday weekend, and y'all investigate this glitch a little more.  I checked it again this morning, and this does seem to work. Weird since it's simple coding to figure the discounts, but hey, what their IT department overlooks isn't our problem as much as it's our benefit.

Crazy! I had to try this; it just sounded too good to be true. I added two Aerie silky camis ($24.95 each) and two Aerie flip flops ($5.50 each), and it knocked 50% off the two camis. Xshock's theory is definitely correct: add the most expensive qualifying items to your cart first. I can't believe their IT department didn't pick up it! I'd suggest snapping up as much as you can/want before they fix the glitch! Happy shopping!
