First off, I hope you have copies of all info. Second, get on the phone with Seagate or the rebate clearing house and try to get some answers. Duplicate serial number? That sounds like a stall tactic to me, plain and simple. But, try to be nice in all correspondence, at least initially. If that doesn't work, you should escalate. 60 dollars is a good chunk of change. I suspect this is their usual way to hold on to it a bit longer, make a bit more interest. Stick to your guns, let them know that you have copies of all info and won't go away until you get what you are owed. Good luck!

That's a bummer. I picked up my Seagate from a local Fry's probably around the same time as you (since the rebate window was so short) and I have alrady received my rebate check. Duplicate Serial No. sounds improbably since you have to cut the serial info off of the box.

I bought a 80 GB hard drive from best buy 3 months ago, the seagate rebate was for $40. Seagate is trying not to give me my rebate as well. They said the same thing... no serial number provided... I mailed everything. They want my sales slip which I have mailed and faxed to them numerous times, and they keep saying to wait 9 bussiness days to update file. When I call back on the 10th bussiness day they say they never recieved anything from me... this has been going on with them for 2 months now.

I have also talked to a few co-workers and friends that are going through the same with seagate... DO NOT BUY SEAGATE PRODUCTS THAT REQUIRE A REBATE... most the time you will not get it.
