Same here. I did return within 15 days though. But since I buy from the internet. I have to pay the shippin back? Word of advice, go to local wireless store when you are try out the reception. That way, if you are not satisify, you can directly return to that store. (Since they are commission involved, if you buy from internet, for example, the AT&T wireless, you can' t return to the local AT&T. That' s true for all carriers.) I learn the hard way by paying the shipping back. Generally, I will recommand you try out first then pick the carrier. The important thing is your home and your work need to have good reception. Sometime, one carrier happen to have a tower nearby then that' s the one you pick. Our final comparsion, the reception for me the best is the Verizon. That' s the one we pick. It is most expensive, but hey, I had a baby comming when I picked the phone. The plan was when my wife called, I wanted to get the phone right there at my office. As contract to land phone, pick the cellphone service base on cheapist plan is moot point. Strange enough most of the carrier doesn' t understand the conecpt. While they keep just adding the " features" to the plan and charge more but refuse to putting up more towers.[:' (]

Yes! I love Verizon so much. It's so reliable, and you end up making all your friends jealous because they can't make a call home for beans. I think Cingular has cheaper plans and way better phones, but stick to quality and stay with Verizon. They have free IN-Network calling too. Not to mention that the call reception is so LOUD..and that's a good thing. I don't like it when the call keeps fading and skipping.

I am very frustrated I have been using Sprint HATE IT HATE IT. The good thing I don't have a contract for the last 2 yrs. I am a light user but I'm inconsistant sometimes I could be in a call for 30 other days I don't use the phone. I looked at Cingular and it was attractive their rollover feature, but I have been told that there are a lot of hidden charges during rollover is that true? Everybody here has been bragging about Verizon, but they don't have unlock chip do they? Oh how I wish they had 1000min for 40/

I am so disappointed in Cingular. I switched from Verizon to Cingular and I am not happy at all. I go from having a 130.00 phone bill to 1045.94 That is totally wrong. I had almost 8000 rollover minutes and I have no idea where they went. I have a notion not to pay but I don't want my credit messed up Cingular if you read this I hope you listen real good I am thinking of switching If you would like to change my mind email me at kjarrett3491@charter.net

Unless you want to burn up your rollover minutes. My company recently changed from company phones to personal phones. Unbeknownst to me my cell number had accumulated several thousand minutes of rollover minutes. When I made the change, the Cingular sales rep said that I could change plans up or down to burn up those minutes. Cingular NEW policy is that you can only transfer over as many minutes as the monthly plan. (i.e.. 700 minute plan can only rollover 700 minutes). So in effect if I lower my monthly program to take advantage of those minutes I never used, I will now lose several thousand rollover minutes. Resolution department at Cingular solution was to use the phone more. Really "Great" solution considering I'm on the phone all the time now!

I too had several thousand minutes. I spoke to a supervisor and was able to get them to allow me to keep all of them (this one time) as when I signed up, the deal was you could keep them.

This turned into an anti-Cingular/Pro-Verizon discussion in no time, very odd. Anyway.. to the person who didn't get reception with Cingular where his car broke down but did with Verizon... do you think there are situations where the opposite would be true, where Cingular works, and Verizon does not? Absolutely. The fact is, not all cell carriers contract and utilize every cell tower. You just have to test a carrier out, and find the one that works best for your needs. I'm glad everyone on Verizon gets absolutley 100% clear service in every square mile of the country and never has dropped calls. I guess the rest of us are really missing out on a great service that also makes you sign contracts.

You don't get the point!!!! Look at the discussion, everybody has lousy service with Cingular. We travel in an rv and used to have terrible service with Cingular. For the last 3 years we have not found a place where Verizon is not loud and clear and never once had a dropped call.

The guy 2 posts above mine is correct. Cingular is the largest company in the nation with the most towers. Cingular's coverage on the west coast is better than Verizons and Verizon's is better on the East Coast. Bottom line is you have to get whatever service is best for you but it's pretty silly to say that one has better coverage than the other because you can always find someone who has the opposite problem. verizon customer

I travel quite a bit around LA and San Diego county. I'm on the old ATT network. My service and reception was great before the Cingular merge. Now it sucks. Dropped calls and skipping during conversations. Most of my friends use Verizon and I don't hear them complaining. They just laugh at me. Cingular keeps offering me great deals to get me to switch over to the GSM network but as tempted as I am, I keep resisting because of these horror stories I hear from Cingular users!

It's strange that you're having that problem because Cingular and AT&T use exactly the same technology. A few years ago the word was that Cingular was going to stop putting up Analog antennas. All new antennas would be GSM. My brother upgraded to a tri mode GSM phone and his service got a whole lot better. It might help you as well. I remember reading that Cingular had a strong hold off service quality in CA and verizon had NY but maybe it was BS. Anyway I would try and get the GSM phone. Verizon Customer

I switched from T-Mobile to Cingular and that was a "BIG" mistake. I have the family plan and "as other have found out" the Roll-over minutes appears to be a "BIG" rip-off. I currently have over 3,100 roll-over minutes. We still are receiving additional charges each month (Our bill adv $200 add charges). No one from Cingular can explain why? No one at Cingular seem to fully understand how the roll-over minutes work, and why my family receives add charges each month and our roll-over minutes continue to accumulate. Should the minutes be used the coming month’s if my family go over? I’ am going back to T-Mobile. It was much easier and cheaper.

In regards to rollover minutes. I googled this site after Cingular told me I could not change my plan and also keep my 2K plus rollover minutes. After I read the commemts, I called back and spoke to a manager and didn't have too much problem getting them to rectify this situation. The rollover policy changed in Oct 05 and I started my plan in Sept 05, so they honored it. Fot those of you in the same situation, it's worth calling and talking to a manager to not lose the rollover min. you paid for.

Bizzarre all the Cingular bashers. Especially the guy who said it didn't work in NJ/NY/PA. I've only been an ATT/Cingular customer and have never had much trouble, as I have lived in NJ/PA for years. Good - I started with an an ATT Wireless plan and a basic Samsung GSM flip phone. The service was pretty good, and I got used to the places where the service dropped out, which honestly was only one place in the middle of farmville, in Cranbury NJ. Better - When Cingular and ATT merged, I could manually change my phone to pick up the other carriers network, so if if i didn't get a good signal on one, I'd almost always get a good signal on the other. I could interchange calls and networks at no cost. BEST - Starting about Jan 2006 I noticed that there was now only one network, I always get a good strong signal, and my phone (originally provided by ATTWireless) now "roams" constantly (which doesn't bother me since I have free roaming on my plan.) It appears that they did finally truely merge the two networks, and have SUPERIOR coverage. Geo

Do you people read anything about your cell phones? Rollover minutes expire; maybe if you read your contract you would know that. Old phones are analog or have 1 digital signal, analog phones don't work with jack on new towers, early digital phones don't work well either. These companies planned to have you buy knew phones when they make tower upgrades. Not to mention they aren’t building as many towers as the used to. They want you to buy a phone which can work on a tower 15 miles away. If you buy a junk phone and it doesn’t work well tough break. They like to restrict your phone and make you re-up your contract or buy a full cost new one. You can also try updating the software on your phone, of course that would require you to read the manual and contract instructions. Customer service at all cell phone companies is junk, they hire college kids to work their stores. I met an English major when I was at the Nextel store, didn’t know much about phones. He aced company training and making a sales pitch but baffled by the trio that couldn’t make phone calls (turn the cell connection on) Now let’s discus what generalizations are. If you had a bad experience with Cingular and deem it’s the worst provider ever you are committing a logical fallacy, a hasty generalization and have little or no value to a conversation.

Cingular's customer service is by far the WORST customer service in history. Other than then put you on hold for 20 minutes, conviently for them, their reps are NEVER on call on weekend nights or sundays -- except of course to switch to their network. I hate them but am locked into a contract.

I have Verizon, and have never been anywhere without service, except in caves, and in the middle of the Pacific ocean on a cruize ship. I can't wait till the day of satillight phones, you have service everywhere. My Garmin GPS can do it, lets do it with cell phones now. I hate government and big business controlled technology
