Bought this deal a couple weeks ago on a 2 day sale. But the deal I got was a little hotter since it came with the 3.2 processor instead of the 3.0 for the same price. They show it as a $100 upgrade. I was also able to use an additional $100 coupon on top of that price.

#3 Here's more info. Hope this doesn't get me banned, but this site is about bargain shopping, right? By the way the 40 to 80 gb is only a $20 upgrade and was the same when I bought. Mine did not include the 56kps modem either. I can buy them on newegg or anywhere else for $11. Just got one free after MIR at staples last week. It does come with ethernet for broadband. I doubt you'd ever see any performance between a 3.0 and 3.2, but I'm surprised they'd make that such a big upgrade, when they were including it in the last deal. (Must of lost too much money on me :) ) The coupon was for $100 off a $700 purchase. It was a one-time use coupon and states that it can't be used with "outrageous deals", but infact could. I learned about the coupon on ****. You have to be registered to get mail and promotions from DELL (I did everything thru Small Business). It's kinda like a lottery. I never got one, but purchased one off of fleabay. I think some people have hundreds of emails registered with DELL or something. I did a quick search and there aren't any good coupons right now. Hope that prepares you for the next deal. I'm passing this time and waiting for a sweeter deal.

#3, I also bought the 4700, a couple weeks before that 8400, for the $499 deal. The 8400 case is alot easier to add stuff to cuz it's tooless. Plus I got a lot more stuff with the 8400 that I had to pay for with the 4700. 512 memory was $50 and upgrade to the Ultrasharp was $50. So there was only a hundred difference and what you got for that was a 128 mb pci express video card and a 2 yr warranty. I would definitately wait for the 8400 to become a better deal. I also splurged with the 8400 and got the 533 mhz memory for $30 upgrade. I just thru away the cdrom drive and put in a DVD+-RW I bought for $40. Much easier to install on the 8400 than the 4700.

Does anyone know if you have to be a business to purchase items through the SB portion of Dell's website? I notice the systems offered there are better deals than those on the home/home office side of the site. If anyone has done this, please let me know anything necessary about doing this. Thanks.

I ordered both the above systems thru the small business. Anyone can do it. Just use your name as the business or whatever you prefer. You will have to pay sales tax unless you actually have a biz with a tax exempt number (which you will need to have already on file with Dell before placing your order) otherwise, order and enjoy the free shipping and better prices.
