I bought the hd1200jr 120 gig generic (WD) hard drive at circuit city last friday. My store was one of the ones that only printed 2 rebates (YB270, and yb9980). There is supposed to be a 3rd $40 one that was listed here as YB273. Does anyone have it, and can you e-mail or post a image of it?

The shelf tag did not list even the 2nd $40 at my store so I cannot ask for a refund on thje $40.

It would be MUCH appreciated.

From what I have read that third rebate was strictly a YMMV situation..........and apparently yours did.

If you aren't comfortable/happy with your after rebate price for this drive I would suggest getting a refund. There will most likely be similar deals on HDs in the future.

Ok well I tracked down a posting of the rebate form elsewhere, so I can send it in with hopefully no issues.

By the way give the new guy a break... YMMV???? Maybe I just need more coffee, but I do not get it.

CC is honoring the 3rd rebate. They actually said they were gonna post up the 3rd rebate online, but I'm not sure if they have. Anyway, congrats on getting in on the deal.

All I can say is I bought this with 3 rebates in April & have not got my $60 WD rebate yet but CC told me 5 times that its been approved & wait another 5 weeks.

I see on the circuitcityrebates.com that all 3 of mine have been received and it says I should have my checks around Feb. 20th. We will see if I do. Strangely enough though, I have only gotten 2 e-mails.

Does anyone know if the $20 and $50 rebates were also valid on the 12-12 purchase of this hard drive?

I bought mine during Christmas and printed all rebates asap. They are claiming one of my rebates are not within the date. Has anyone else experienced this???? I have two that seem to be going through, but the third one is not.

Yes, I have had the exact same problem. I called CC Corporate and they said it was an error and the rebate actually was to have been taken down on 12/11. I argued that they should honor it since it was their mistake. She apologized and said there was nothing she could do. the Rebate that is said to be out of the time fram is YB273. According to the website at the time it was said to expire 12/24 not the dates they state. I bought my HD on 12/22. The other 2 have been processed and are being sent in March I guiess according to their website.

I think this is TOTAL BS. I know MANY people that bought this product under this deal... we need to force this issue with CC. They screwed up...

Got this letter Saturday (1/31/04):

We received your request and we thank you for your interest in the Circuit City $40 HDD Hard Drive Rebate. We regret that we are unable to process your request as received due to the following reason(s):

The date of purchase on your rebate submission was outside valid promotion dates.

If you have any questions regarding this offer, please call 1-888-213-9761, Monday through Sunday 7AM to 7PM, Central Time, any of our representatives will be happy to help you.

This is bull$***!!! Well... I'm not happy anyway. I'm not sure if they're correct or not. I purchased the drive on Dec 22nd from the link on the news page. I ordered online and picked up at a local store that day. The YB270 ($40) and YB272 ($20) has been approved but the YB273 ($40) is the one declined. I have the copies of the rebate submission online but it doesn't tell you the purchase dates, just the following:

"Please remember that the postmark deadline for mailing your rebate is 1/20/2004. "

Postmark date was 1/5/04. I noticed the news page on 12/12/03 had the same rebate listed. Does anyone have a copy of this rebate showing the valid purchase dates? The drive is still unopened but will CC issue a refund now with no UPC code and give me a refund? Anyone else fighting this one?

I have been calling the corporate # and bitching up a storm! I suggest we all do. The Number is 1800251-2665 and just "0" out.

I spoke with someone on friday and was escalted to a manager but they were all busy. So she took my number and said one would call me back.. Of course.. NO CALL BACK! When I initially called corporate, They are aware of the issue becasue the girl "heather" read the email concerning this issue to me.

Keep fighting.. We should get something out of it.

Exact same here. Called the Rebate Centre and was told to call Corporate HQ. Called them and was told that the rebate was removed but still linked by 'bargain websites' and would not be honoured. I don't see what else we can do.

I received the same letter in the mail today and called the Circuit City rebate center and was directed to the corporate office ... the same story as everyone else. I too feel that this is total BS and actually FRAUD. I think we should keep calling and fighting with the people at the corporate office and also definitely report this to BBB.

We need to do something about this!!!

Also, does anyone have a copy of the rebate form YB273 ?

Let me know how to get a copy of it to you.

I called back again yesterday to corporate and theysaid they have 24 hours to call back.. And to my surprise... No CALL BACK. Today will be a FUN day when I call back in. They will compensate me for this in one way or another.. Even if it is just to get me to quit calling.

I got the same letter as eveyone else.
I called the rebate center as instructed by the letter.
After being on hold for 10 min. the rebate center told me to calll the head office.
I called the head office and after a 20 mn wait I was told I would be put though to a manager.
Instead of connecting me to a manager they left me on hold for 5 min. and they connected me back to the rebate center, where, of course I was told to call HQ.:)

I don't know if this was deliberate or not.

My wife wants a new camara for her birthday and I don't think I trust Circuit City enough to make such a large purchase from them at this time.

Same deal here, YB273, letter, blown off by rebate center, etc.

I'm thinking maybe we could do something via Better Business Bureau, etc.? Maybe en masse?

Also, if anyone has the original form it would be handy - I did mine online so the part I printed out didn't have the terms. Cute, eh?

FWIW I submitted online after ordering but before picking up and got my confirmation before I picked up the unit. Not sure how that could all happen if the rebate was "pulled."

Granted this was a YMMV deal, but accepting the rebate then rejecting after the purchase is pretty shady...

It is a loss at this point. I spoke with a manager and she was stone solid that it would not be honored. I went the whole route of even compromise since it was their error and responsibility, for a gift card! NO WAY! I asked to talk to her manager. NOPE! She says she was the highest. If you want to talkto a manager her name is "Diane BEverly" 1800-251-2665 Ext 6780 or so she says.

I typed up a big ole letter to Corporate Consumer affairs and sent it registered. I WILL NOT Give up on this issue. Keep any status posting on this thread if anything changes.
